Statement of Purpose: This position provides expert medication and administrative knowledge and is responsible for leading the organizations medical services department (medical, dental, and behavioral health). In this critical role, the CMO provides the overall vision for standard-of-care methodologies, provider support, and oversight of the organization''s medical programs to meet patient needs and CAN Community Health''s grant-funded care requirements. The CMO works closely with clinical staff and teams across departments to ensure medical services meet the highest standards and oversees quality improvement efforts to improve clinical performance and maintain compliance with all credentialing standards. The position will also interact with the Board of Directors. Primary Tasks: Lead and implement the clinical direction for the organization. Develop and manage a strong team of medical directors and physicians and guide the entire healthcare team and implement valid action plans. Supervise, lead and coach managers & supervisors within the department. Develop substantial role in the community and serve as a public advocate for CAN while promoting CAN as a high quality, community-based HIV, Hepatitis C, and STD healthcare enterprise. Administer the financial, human resources, legal, and political concerns relative to patient care for the organization. Track and monitor goal achievement, manage a budget, project management, and keep personnel records Keep abreast of emerging models in healthcare delivery; identify and define new and innovative strategies to achieve business goals and objectives. Develop and assess the overall quality, efficiency, and impact of the medical service delivery model on patients'' health and well-being. Accountability and oversight of Provider the provider onboarding and training process. Ensure that policies and procedures are appropriate to programs and services and are developed and/or adjusted according to programmatic changes and evolving community needs. Implement effective disease management programs, standards of care, protocols, policies, and procedures while ensuring all clinics operate consistently to one another. Provide health-related advice and expertise to the CEO, COO, Task Force, and HR leadership teams as they navigated public health emergencies and lead the Public Health Emergency Taskforce. Responsible for medical updates, applicable compliance, legal, and regulatory requirements. Ensure medical department is proficient in the use of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Review and audit substantive samples of satellite clinic patient charts to ensure that provider examinations, diagnosis codes, treatments and documentation are timely and of acceptable professional quality. Monitor the effectiveness and overall operation of medical, dental, and behavioral health services; developed and implement strategies that promote efficiencies, organizational growth, and quality enhancement in overall medical services. Participate in monitoring visits, audits and other related activities as directed. Review working medical practices to ascertain if it is successful and if not, devise an alternative. Promotes and practices CAN Community Health, Inc.''s mission, values and follows policies. Secondary Tasks: Development of new 340B healthcare provider partnerships, and maintenance of established partnerships. Work closely with the executive team in setting overall strategic direction and business development of the organization. Review qualitative and quantitative data on patient experience and patient satisfaction to improve the CAN service delivery model. Identify specific opportunities for CAN to collaborate and develop medical integration with strategic business partners that can further the CAN Mission. Play a significant role in long-term planning, including an initiative geared toward medical excellence. Contribute to short and long-term planning and strategy as a member of the management team. Ensure all agreed non-financial targets are met in all departments. Work with department heads and senior management to obtain the best performance from staff. Report to the CAN Board of Directors on all major health care delivery matters for all the satellite clinics. Interact with funding agencies, universities and medical school faculty and administrators, research institutions, and others as appropriate for potential research and educational program opportunities. Clinical Liaison between Medical Directors and other medical staff for all clinics. Ensures confidentiality is maintained regarding patient/client information in accordance with HIPAA, professional and departmental standards. Ensue continuous coverage at all clinics. Manage the Medical Department Budget and Strategic Plan. Perform other duties as assigned by the COO. Requirements: Physical Requirements: Requires frequent bending, stooping, and standing. Requires visual and auditory acuity, frequent sitting and walking for extended periods of time. Required Training: New Employee Orientation Required Annual Safety and Compliance Training Education/Professional: Medical Degree required; Significant experience in infectious disease/HIV preferred. Solid management experience in medical services, to include overseeing and managing personnel, contracts, services, and promoting and enhancing overall medical services. 20+ years of experience as a practicing physician. 10 years'' experience in Infectious diseases and public health background. Valid Driver''s License and ability to travel (travel required is approximately 25%). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Ability to effectively manage competing priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Possess strong strategic planning skills and strategic decision-making ability Adept at time management and prioritization. Possess strong business acumen and a collaborative management style. Possess exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to oversee and lead large and small-scale research projects. Master problem-solver with exceptional decision-making ability and quality. Ability to build relationships, develop teams, and improve medical department effectiveness.
