MANAGER, EDITORIAL & DESIGN SERVICES *We are looking to fill this role remotely or in one of our office locations in the UK/Europe or USThe Editorial & Design Services (EDS) team is a group of highly skilled medical editors and graphic designers whose technical proficiency, focus on quality, and professionalism add value to a variety of study documents at each level of client engagement. Our experienced medical editors improve overall readability and ensure that a final deliverable is clean, accurate, logical, consistent, and impactful. Our expert graphic designers work with internal and external clients to transform complex scientific information into highly designed, meaningful imagery.Position Overview:The team is seeking a full-time Manager with demonstrated editorial and leadership excellence. The ideal candidate will: Have line management experience (e.g., recruiting, delivering performance evaluations) in the pharmaceutical or healthcare environments Effectively supervise and mentor multiple team members with varying experience and ability Work with direct reports and team leadership to monitor and ensure key financial metrics are met Invigorate the team with innovative ideas Demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills Be a skilled communicator Have experience as a medical editor and possess superior knowledge of grammar and technical editingEssential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned): Manage a team of 4+ medical editors independently; direct reports may be in the same location or remote/global Monitor financial metrics for direct reports; develop action plans with leadership as appropriate Effectively serve as deputy team lead as needed in the Senior Manager''s absence Create content for and lead internal and company-wide meetings and trainings Apply project management skills to manage complex projects Manage time efficiently; ensure timely delivery to customers Triage editorial and design requests based on fit and availability, making effective decisions regarding competing priorities Demonstrate excellent medical editing skill/ability and deliver expertly edited documents that meet or exceed applicable quality standards Leverage expert software knowledge to serve as a resource for more complicated requests and troubleshooting exercisesQualifications:Education, Professional Skills, & Experience: Bachelor''s degree (BA or BS) required; advanced degree preferred Certification from the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS) or commensurate professional experience preferred 2+ years of line management experience 8+ years of experience in medical, scientific, or technical editing, in the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare spaces Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Office package, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, required Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Adobe InDesign, and/or EndNote is a plus Personal Skills & Competencies: Must work and think independently, demonstrating an ability to invigorate the team with new ideas and not merely follow instructions Must demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills and be able to think creatively to provide solutions Must communicate in an approachable, effective manner with direct reports, teammates, and internal clients Must be a creative and skillful editor, demonstrating a keen eye for detail and a superior knowledge of grammar and the healthcare landscape Be available for infrequent evening/night/weekend workWorking Environment: PPD values the health and wellbeing of our employees.
