After on-site training this position has the potential to work a hybrid schedule (a combination of days working from home and days in the office at a company facility/site depending on project needs). Job Summary:Seeking a talented Principal Systems Engineer to join our systems engineering team working with technical experts with specialties in optical engineering, IR imaging processing, IR imaging characterization and control systems. This role will lead system engineering efforts as needed in program and product development. In this role, you will develop global product strategies through the understanding of unmet customer needs, performance requirements, and overall customer satisfaction. You will contribute technical expertise, drive innovation, oversee all technical work including setting and maintaining design standards and incorporating the latest design methods and tools to improve internal and external design practices. You will keep technology at the forefront of the industry by providing technical leadership in all phases of product development including product definition, architecture, design, layout, and production support. Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:Lead large product development efforts through the complete life cycle from market analysis to end of life.Create and manage project and product specifications.Play an important role in program Kick off meeting (KOM), Specifications and Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Testing Readiness Review (TRR), etc.Collaborate with all product stakeholders including customers, vendors, business development, production, service, and senior tegrate innovative technical solutions to best satisfy market and customer requirements including features, performance, cost, manufacturability, quality, and time to market.Closely work with multi-discipline engineering team.Identify and execute continuous improvement efforts to reduce overall design costs and improve product performance and reliability.Responsible for overall project and team planning, budgets, goal setting and tracking progress; deviations from plans should be clearly and promptly communicated to senior management.Coordinate external vendors and suppliers for both standard and custom products and development.Contribute as a core member of the systems engineering team. Job Qualifications:BS or MS in Engineering required with 10+ years of related systems engineering experience.5+ years of experience designing stabilized gimbals.Understanding of EO/IR imaging system modelling and analysis required.Understanding of Laser rangefinder and its applications required.Strong background in system requirements, definitions and maintenance required.Proficient at systems modelling, analysis, design and troubleshooting required.Solid experience with control system design, modelling and analysis required.Solid experience in mechanical structural analysis required.Experience in software design and algorithms required.Strong understanding of the entire product development cycle required.Demonstrated innovation and team player.Strong communications skills: including persuasive writing skills and experience effectively presenting to senior management.Able and willing to travel quarterly to other domestic sites. - provided by Dice
