Nature & Scope: The Human Resources Director is responsible for developing and implementing people-related services, policies, programs, and metrics to support the recruitment and ongoing development of the workforce and the achievement of the organization''s business goals. The human resources function includes employment services (from recruitment to retirement), compensation, benefits, payroll, compliance, and employee safety. This position supports two related but distinct organizations with shared ownership, Midway Oil Corporation, Inc., dba TenneyBrook and Donuts of Rutland, Inc. dba Dunkin''. Midway Oil/Dunkin'' is willing to offer assistance with relocation expenses for this role.Midway Oil Corporation, Inc., dba TenneyBrook, is a family-owned business that began providing petroleum products and services throughout Rutland County more than 90 years ago. Today the company continues to be a leading wholesale distributor of petroleum, petroleum products and convenience store products throughout Vermont and New York. With more than 19 retail locations and 105 employees, TenneyBrook provides customers with gas, groceries, and great customer service!Donuts of Rutland, Inc. is a fast-paced, growing Dunkin'' franchisee with more than 240 employees across 15 restaurants throughout Vermont and New York. Responsibilities: • Develops and administers integrated and nimble recruiting strategy that identifies future hiring needs while responding to the seasonal retail demands of the organization.• Designs and implements effective social media and web-based talent management strategies that ensure the organization attracts, hires and retains the best employees while growing a strong talent pipeline.• Develops and administers a competitive wage program that ensures equity, meets compliance requirements, and supports the retention strategies for management and staff positions throughout the organization.• Develops and maintains an integrated human resources and payroll information system that meets management information and payroll processing needs.• Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues including composing custom and template employment-related correspondence that supports company policies and ensures compliance.• Responds to employee and management inquiries and consults legal counsel to ensure that policies, programs, and practices comply with federal and Vermont and New York state law.• Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of all records and reports required by law or local governing bodies, including but not limited to ACA, OSHA, EEOC, DOL, etc.• Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance, including understanding and responding to legislative issues impacting the retail industry.• Develops and maintains new employee orientation to foster a high-performance culture that emphasizes a fast and fun environment that focuses on quality and customer service excellence.• Plans and implements management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.• Develops and administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization.• Designs and administers comprehensive benefits programs such as health, vision, and dental insurance, retirement plans, vacation, leave of absence, and employee assistance.• Investigates workplace accidents and prepares reports for the insurance carrier and management and coordinates regular safety and workers'' compensation meetings with management and broker.• Develops and maintains a human resources operational budget including benefits costs.• Develops and implements people data metrics for human resources and management utilization.• As a business steward, works closely with the franchise owners and the operations leadership team to develop continuous improvement plans for maximizing return on people investments.• Ensures compliance with all corporate, brand, federal, state and local employment, health and safety laws, rules and regulations. Education, Experience & Attributes: • College degree in human resources, business or other related field is required. 5-7 Years of leadership experience is preferred but open to experienced Generalists and Business Partners looking to advance their career. • Has or is able to obtain a SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR credential within 12 months.• Participation in the Green Mountain Human Resources Association & local SHRM chapter within 3 months.• Self-motivated and highly adaptive with a desire for personal and professional growth.• Strategic and project management capabilities coupled with strong analytic acumen, independent thinking, and the ability to synthesize multiple sourced data into fact based and nuanced solutions.• Candidates must possess an ability to prioritize business goals, drive results with a high sense of urgency and achieve business outcomes.• Successful candidates will be able to build credible and trusting relationships using their wealth of interpersonal, influencing and communications skills and promote culture of collaboration and teamwork across organizational boundaries breaking down functional silos to optimize business results and to facilitate the overall growth of the franchise. Additional Qualifications: • Must be authorized to work in the United States.• Must have a valid Driver''s License, reliable transportation, and vehicle insurance. Physical & Environmental Requirements: The mental and physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.• Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.• Ability to use eye, hand, arm, foot and leg motor coordination skills.• Ability to exert physical effort in handling (pushing, pulling, lifting) objects between 10-25 pounds frequently.• Ability to work 40-45 hours per week as needed.• Ability to sit while working in an office environment for long periods of time.
