Activities Assistant | Memory Care We are hiring for our brand new state of the art Healthcare Center, Gadsden Glen, at Bishop Gadsden located conveniently on James Island, SC! Our Activities Assistant will assist in the planning of and leading of monthly individual and group activities for our residents in our Memory Care setting. The successful candidate will have compassion for and the desire to work with the elderly. Responsibilities Encourage resident independence and optimal level of functioning Exercise standard precautions of infection control in all resident care Assist with documentation of the residents'' participation, the activity interests, needs, and concerns of the residents. Participate in Activity Committee meetings as necessary Support and coordinate with any volunteers during activities Assess needs and maintain an adequate supply of materials to implement activity programs Maintain safe driving practices with respect to company vehicles Drive up to 12 residents on a BG bus to various activities and/or events Utilize plan of care in delivery of resident centered programming Receive and give reports on resident''s condition when applicable Exchange resident information with nursing staff on an ongoing basis Observe any change in resident condition and report it immediately Communicate and cooperate with other members of multidisciplinary healthcare team to accomplish resident centered care Maintain professional appearance and conduct exhibiting a respectful and courteous demeanor at all times Assist and participate with pet care Participate in staff functions as necessary as a member of the staff of this community Implement room visits and one on one opportunities as directed by supervisors Accept additional duties as necessary in a cooperative manner Perform all responsibilities with adherence to Resident''s Rights and HIPAA Qualifications Ability to direct daily activities with little or no supervision Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and employees Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written in English Ability to convey a sense of caring and respect to residents and families, regardless of circumstances Maintain professional appearance and conduct exhibiting a respectful and courteous demeanor at all time Must be available to work weekends Required Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent Experience in all aspects of long-term care for the elderly required Prefer 3-5 years'' experience in working with elderly activities Valid SC driver''s license with no violations within three (3) years Basic computer knowledge, Word, Publisher, Excel, Outlook (ability to work with computer programs as needed) Be BG!
