Job DescriptionJoin the Clean Energy Revolution Become an Assistant Forester at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you''ll help oversee timber and vegetation management operations within Southern California Edison''s (SCE''s) Shaver Lake lands. This person will be based out of the Camp Edison and Forestry Office in Shaver Lake, California. As an Assistant Forester, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Are you ready to take on the challenge to help us build the future? A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright! Administration of SCE''s Forestry department GIS database, map creation and data organization. Administration of the department''s annual timber inventory data collection and analysis. Provide functional direction to seasonal Forestry Technicians. Perform contract administration of pre commercial treatments and wildfire hazard reduction projects. Timber marking, log yarding layout, Fireline construction, and resource protection flagging. Assist Senior Forester with silvicultural prescriptions, harvest plan creation, timber sale administration, agency correspondence and State Forest Practice compliance. Assist team members with prescribed burning, reforestation, wildlife management, fire prevention and recreation management. QualificationsThe Essentials Three or more years of experience performing Forestry related work. Three or more years of experience using GIS software. Ability to work long hours in uneven terrain and inclement weather conditions day or night. Valid Driver''s License. The Preferred Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry or related field. Valid California Registered Professional Foresters (RPF) License or ability to take the California RPF exam within two years of employment. Cal Fire Archaeological Surveyor certification. Experience with logging, vegetation, and reforestation contract administration. Knowledge of the California Forest Practice Rules. Knowledge of Sierra Nevada ecology and native plant communities. Experience with uneven aged silvicultural prescriptions. Experience with timber sales. Proficient with Microsoft Access, Word, Excel and Power Point. Experience managing multiple field vegetation projects for compliance and reliability. Represents the company at forestry working groups, public meetings and educational events. You should know ... Work Mode: This position''s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in a field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. Position will require up to 70% traveling and being out in the field within the Shaver Lake lands.
