The N112 Special Projects Department works as trusted advisors with its government sponsors and mission partners as they architect system integration efforts to successfully incorporate new technologies and software applications in support of a resilient space enterprise infrastructure, sensing, and an integrated C2 system. Additionally, N112 performs numerous sensing experiments and prototyping activities including a class-leading modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities designed to enable MITRE and sponsor-driven analysis and research in all space mission domains across multiple customers, missions, and technology providers. The research, development, and outcomes of these efforts provide high-quality, comprehensive, quantitative insights for senior government decision makers shaping the future of our nation''s Space policy, operations, and systems. Job Responsibilities: * Serve as lead software developer among a team of engineers and coders to create prototype communication systems for the United States Space Force (USSF) in an agile and fast-paced environment* Engage with the sponsoring government organization to understand and build towards their needs and requirements for software solutions that balance work priorities and time constraints* Continually explore and lead integration opportunities for new technologies like Machine Learning and GPU architectures that will benefit national security* Leverage modern, agile-based software practices and tools to facilitate the Continuous Development/Continuous Integration (CI/CD) pipelines* Ability to complete tasks, drive projects to closure, assimilate and correlate project information, and incorporate into test strategies needed to validate system functionality and performance* Engage with military space operators to get feedback on prototype interfaces, data, and functionality to create solutions and improve the operator experience* Deploy overseas as needed to complete prototype integration in the realistic signal environment* Work across multiple projects to encourage good code reuse and lead software integration efforts for full-stack solutions Required Qualifications: * Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor''s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or related software engineering; or 3 years and a Master''s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step* Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance* Self-starter that possesses broad software engineering expertise related to space systems* Work with technical teams and collaborate/interact with Space Force personnel, contractors, and other FFRDC partners* Significant experience with microservice design and implementation using Docker* Extensive experience developing software using languages such as Java, C/C++, Python, and scripting such as Bash* Comfortable developing in a Linux Operating System environment* Experience with automated build pipeline (CI/CD) tools such as GitLab, Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, etc.* Familiarity with communication systems, specifically satellite communications* Ability to shift from one project to another in an agile work environment* Ability to communicate technical approaches and details within small project teams, including team interaction and presentations* Ability to document and/or present technical approaches, designs, block diagrams, algorithms, and implementations in written and graphical form PreferredQualifications: * 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor''s degree; or 8 years and a Master''s degree; or a PhD with 5 years'' experience* Demonstrated ability to learn and apply knowledge of a technical domain to software development, particularly in the Space domain to include astrodynamics, sensing, ISR, and C2* Prior experience with DoD, Intelligence Community, or Space customers and/or companies* Excellent interpersonal skills and technical document preparation skills with a demonstrated ability to support complex organizational relationships* Ability to communicate complex concepts and ideas in a confident and well-organized manner* Experience in signal processing and radio systems* Developed software using NVIDIA CUDA architectures* Experience with REST-ful interfaces and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON)* Strong motivation to expand knowledge and skills* Ability to approach classical problems with new ideas and innovation* Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s): This requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s): Salary compensation range and midpoint:$102,000 - $127,500 - $153,000 Annual Subject to all federal and state laws, rules and regulations, MITRE requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
