Party Chief, Land Surveyor

RK&K is hiring a Survey Party Chief for our Land Surveying Group in Baltimore, MD. In this role, you will perform various types of land surveys including topographical, boundary/right-of-way, as-built, planimetric and ALTA/NSPS surveys while managing crew coordination. Come join our team.Essential Functions Manage a 2 or 3-person survey crew through fieldwork for survey projects Assess a survey project and develop a plan to complete the survey Keep proper and accurate field notes Review project with survey technicians before, during and after survey projects Fully engage in solving complex problems to provide technical evaluation and sound solutions Mentor and train crew field personnel Must be proficient in the operation of Leica and Trimble total-stations and data-collectors Must be proficient in the operation of Leica GPS receiver and data-collectors Perform mathematical computations Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Required Education, Skills and Experience High school diploma or equivalen Certified Survey Technician (preferred) Minimum five (5) years of experience as an instrument operator performing topographical, boundary/right of way, as-built, planimetric, laser scanning and ALTA/NSPS Surveys Maryland State Highway Administration surveys experience Experience as a crew chief performing topographical, boundary/right of way, as-built, planimetric, laser scanning and ALTA/NSPS Surveys or similar experience Carry out proper survey procedures and methods to complete surveys Knowledge and experience with modern survey equipment including maintenance, cleaning and adjusting survey instruments Ability to work independently and without direct onsite supervision Must use equipment and tools safely and properly Must be able to operate basic Microsoft Office Applications, Laptop and iPad Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills Must be very punctual and reliable Other Requirements Valid driver''s license and favorable driving record Ability to pass a background check Physically able to walk long distances and stand for up to 2 hours at a time and lift up to 30 pounds Must be physically able to perform multiple field tasks in different weather conditions PI187090152
