Description: Wright Manufacturing, an award-winning producer of commercial-grade lawn equipment, in Frederick Maryland, is seeking a creative and motivated Engineer to play an active role in supporting the initiatives of the team, providing technical and hands-on expertise in the design and development of outdoor power equipment and the creation of accompanying documents and manuals. Wright is a soup to nuts company where metal comes in one door and finished products go out the other. Requirements: Candidate Engineers should be able to demonstrate proficiency in: 3D CAD (Solid Works preferred) modeling of mechanical components, and assemblies with knowledge of sheet metal designing Create component drawings MS Office packages (MS Excel preferred)Mechanical component and system design Steel fabrication design and basic assemblyFamiliar with Fuel/Engine (15-40HP) systems Mechanical power transmission (Belt/Gear/Hydro)Hands-on mechanical skills for prototype developmentDocument management process, writing ECOAssist in resolving manufacturing-related issues using problem-solving techniques (RCA, 5 Why''s) and manage deviation approval as neededBasic project management skills and understanding of the phase-gate process in new product developmentSome experience specific to product development or sustaining existing products in a manufacturing environmentWorking with suppliers and performing first article inspection of new or revised purchased partsAdditional Preferred Experience in:• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)• Technical writing • Understanding of Lean principles and methodology• Electro-mechanical systems, sensors, computers, cabling, and wire routing• Basic knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system to create part numbers and BOM (Bills of Materials)• Coding/programmingAll candidates should display a can-do attitude, respect for colleagues, customers, and our business, and enthusiasm to grow and learn.Position requires a minimum of an Associate''s Degree and at least 2-year of related work experience.
