We believe in creative thinking and collaboration to help build a better mobility experience for everyone, improving people''s ability to move - whether for work or play.What we do: The Battery Functional Safety & Compliance Engineer focuses on assessing potential multi-functional safety hazards and managing compliance management strategies for Energy Storage System (ESS). This role supports our engineers with making tradeoff decisions using a strong fundamental understanding of battery characteristics, battery control, and battery management and an exceptionally detailed approach. The position works closely with design and SW engineers from multi-functional teams of battery design, battery management systems, flight control, and vehicle management.What you can do:Contribute to functional safety architecture development for Energy Storage System (ESS)Apply both top-down approaches and bottom-up approaches to develop technical safety requirements for ESSResponsible for assessing functional safety issues within ESS and cross-function between ESS and other componentsDevelop and/or lead the reviews of battery functional safety-related items during FHA, FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, etc. processes with both suppliers and internal teamsCollaborate with the system engineer team and certification team to define and improve functional safety conceptsWork closely with ESS''s HW and SW technical teams to address safety & compliance issues in the early development phases Ensure the ESS technical teams follow the right processes for compliance throughout the development and integration phasesCollaborate with test, validation, and certification teams to develop and improve functional safety-related test requirements and methodologiesResponsible for developing and maintaining functional safety deployment processes for the ESS technology teamContribute to technical writing of compliance and certification related documents for ESSMay require up to 20% of domestic and international travelsOther duties as assignedWhat you can contribute:Bachelor''s degree in mechanical, aerospace, aeronautical or equivalent fieldA minimum of three (3) years of experience working in aviation/aerospace (an equivalent combination of education experience may be considered)3 years of experience in compliance management for ESS, propulsion system, or powertrain systemYou may also be able to contribute:Master''s degree related engineering fieldExperience working with FAA and EASA regulatory agenciesAny offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background check.
