We believe in creative thinking and collaboration to help build a better mobility experience for everyone, improving people''s ability to move - whether for work or play.What we do: The Principal Civil Certification Engineer is responsible for assisting in the growth and development of the Certification team into a robust center of excellence for regulatory guidance. This role requires a highly experienced professional with expertise in FAA Type Certification and Foreign Validation. The Civil Certification Engineer is responsible for maintaining a current library of regulatory guidance materials, as well as providing input and guidance, both to lower-level engineers within the Certification team as well as to the Supernal organization at large. This position may also be called upon to help represent Supernal within industry as a technical subject matter expert and assist the Policy team in helping to drive efforts to shape regulatory policy. The role requires a phenomenal teammate, a mentor, and an individual who exhibits a can-do demeanor while approaching their work with diligence and determination.What you can do:Support the Civil Certification Engineers in their roles at the project-levelServe as a knowledge base for certification and airworthiness topics and remain current on the latest regulatory and industry guidance and practicesProvide guidance, input, and support in the development of Supernal Certification processes and proceduresProvide technical expertise and mentorship to the team and/or cross-disciplinary research & development teams working on the development & certification of autonomous, passenger carrying, eVTOL aircraftAct as a technical check for documents and plans to assure alignment with regulations. This can include compliance checklists, certification plans, conformity inspection plans, issue paper responses, and FAA forms as applicableEnsure that regulatory compliance is integral to the development process through training and knowledge transferDevelop materials to ensure an up-to-date awareness of the type certification process and requirements across the Supernal teamParticipate in meetings with program management, other senior leaders, and general staff as noted above, and with government representatives (Internal and external) and industry as neededOther duties as assignedWhat you can contribute:B.S. in the areas of Aerospace/Aeronautical, Mechanical, Systems, Industrial Engineering or other related fieldsA minimum of 15 years of experience in systems design, development, safety analysis, integration, and certification (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)Mastery of the FAA Type Certification, Supplemental Type Certification, and Production Certificate processesExtensive experience with 14 CFR airworthiness requirements (Parts 23, 25, 27, and/or 29)Excellent working relationships with FAA and other regulatory personnelExperience with requirements managementStrong working experience with ARP4754A and ARP4761 safety processesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProactive delivery of communication and follow upExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraintsSelf-motivated and forward-thinking personalityTeam-oriented approach to problem solving and information sharingAbility to translate and distill complex regulatory topics into applicable guidance for the engineering teamProficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office SuiteYou may also be able to contribute:Master''s degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical, Mechanical, Systems, Industrial Engineering or other related fieldsExperience working on type certification of an aircraft from start to finish under any of 14 CFR Part 23/25/27/29 or other relevant regulationsSuccessful foreign validation of FAA Type CertificatesExperience with electric propulsion air or ground vehiclesExperience with 14 CFR Parts 33, 35, and 36Experience with DO-254, DO-178, & DO-160Experience with the FAA TSO processExperience in an ODA environment (Administrator preferred)Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background check.
