The Director of Nursing is responsible for the operations of the Staffing Office, house-wide patient placement process and the management of the Resource Coordinator team. In addition, the Director of Nursing is responsible for the operational management of the inpatient units by leading and mentoring the Nurse Managers. This role collaboratively develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates the patient placement process to ensure the timely and efficient placement of patients 24 hours a day, in the appropriate settings based on patient acuity, care needs and staff competency. The Director will also closely monitor daily staffing level needs as well as monitor future projected staffing needs, in collaboration with the Human Resources Department and the CNO. The Director of Nursing is also responsible for identifying, communicating and instituting best practices in clinical care. Working closely with the educator staff and the Nursing Quality Coordinator the Director will provide direction and oversight of nursing quality, staff competency and professional development programs, which fosters growth through knowledge and experiences needed to advance personal and professional goals as well as provide safe, effective, evidence-based patient and family care. The Director is expected to achieve departmental and organizational goals while ensuring optimal outcomes within the approved operating budget. Effective communication is required with Physicians, Nurse Managers and all members of the healthcare and Human Resources team.Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:Minimum of 5-10 years of progressing nursing leadership experiencesProgressive development in nursing leadership rolesProficiency in communication skills (both written and verbal)Fosters collaborative relationships with physicians, nursing leadership and other disciplines/departmentsExperience with tracking data and management of departmental performance measuresAbility to function and multi-task in a changing environmentCommand of verbal and written English; positive interpersonal communication skills and good organizational skills. Computer skills including email, word processing, excel spreadsheets and presentation applications.
