Job Description

Walt Disney Animation Studios (WDAS) seeks a Senior Paralegal to draft, review and negotiate contracts and provide general legal and administrative support to WDAS with particular emphasis on production and studio matters. This includes: drafting and negotiating contracts for motion pictures and studio activities under attorney supervision; providing counsel and assistance to studio personnel on matters relating to legal policies; preparing summaries and reports; assisting with data entry and maintaining files, forms and databases; and assisting the Business & Legal Affairs team with other special projects as may be necessary from time to time.Responsibilities : ï‚ Draft, review and negotiate agreements for WDAS and the Animation Research Library under supervision of an attorney.ï‚ Draft, review and negotiate motion picture agreements and amendments for actors, writers and consultants as well as post-production agreements and sound library licenses under attorney supervision.ï‚ Draft, review and negotiate agreements for studio activities, programs, operations and events under supervision of project attorney.ï‚ Compare and proofread agreements and related materials.ï‚ Prepare legal correspondence at direction of attorneys.ï‚ Respond to legal inquiries; raise and escalate legal issues as necessary.ï‚ Maintain library of agreements and contract language, e.g., "gives" database.ï‚ Assist the attorneys with the preparation of memos for each motion picture production.ï‚ Work closely with the attorneys and studio personnel on issues arising in motion picture production and other studio matters.ï‚ Track and prepare reports relating to status of agreements and agreement terms.ï‚ Perform special projects, research and other related duties as assigned or requested.ï‚ Such additional, alternative, removed or changed responsibilities as may be directed from time-to-time by a supervisor, with or without advance notice.Basic Qualifications : ï‚ Minimum of four years of experience in contract negotiation. Experience with entertainment production and motion picture industry strongly preferred.ï‚ Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience in a law firm or studio preferred.ï‚ Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.ï‚ Fluent in English.Preferred Qualifications: ï‚ Interact well with all levels of personnel with ability to communicate clearly.ï‚ Must be willing to take "ownership" of projects and think proactively.ï‚ Ability to identify and analyze complex issues and devise solutions and strategies with minimal supervision.ï‚ Must have superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize high-volume work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.ï‚ Self-starter with ability to multi-task, excellent work ethic and commitment to managing assignments with professionalism and integrity.ï‚ Excellent written, verbal, analytical and organizational skills.ï‚ Must be detail oriented, with accurate input and proofing skills.Additional Information : legalaffairs, LI-GG1 and CORP_MEDIA
