The Maternal Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH) and Primary Care (SFHN PC) divisions are integral parts of San Francisco Health Network''s complete system of care. The MCAH Section carries out the administrative and operational components of the MCAH goals and objectives required by State and Federal mandates. MCAH has oversight and implementation responsibility for program guidelines with health providers and community agencies, and subcontractor compliance with the MCAH Scope of Work. MCAH mission is to provide quality care for birthing people, children and their families with a racial equity and trauma informed lens. SFHN PC''s fourteen (14) health centers/programs, provide high-quality, compassionate care to the City''s children, youth, adults, and elders regardless of immigration status or ability to pay. Services include prenatal care and family planning services; integrated behavioral health and substance use services; dental, gender health, nutrition, pharmacy, and podiatry services; integrative health services such as acupuncture; and care for people experiencing homelessness and refugees/asylum seekers. The SFHN MCAH/PC Physician Champion will have 54% administrative time to work in MCAH Section to provide clinical oversight for women''s and adolescent health services within SFDPH, SFHN and MCAH. This role will also provide clinical care in one or more of the SFHN PC health centers/programs at 30% time. The balance of the position will utilize this direct service experience to champion equitable women''s and adolescent health services within SFHN PC.Annual Compensation $192,816-$273,000Current Openings, Divisions & ContactsDescriptionUnder the general direction of the Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health Section Director, and in close collaboration with the Section''s Family Planning and Perinatal Services Coordinators: Provides clinical consultation to the Family Planning Program and Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program in their support of clinic-based family planning and reproductive health services at San Francisco Health Network and Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program provider clinics, including providing clinical consultation for:QI efforts, including special projects and chart review tool development;Staff trainings and brown bags;Billing and medical protocols and workflows;Improvement of EPIC/data management systems for family planning and pregnancy related services;Ensure the above efforts are grounded in an anti-racist and adolescent and LGBTQQIA-inclusive frameworkWith the Family Planning Program and CPSP Coordinators updates clinics on:New protocols, workflows, formulary, data management systems as per above;New Family P.A.C.T., Title X, and CPSP regulations and guidelines;Upcoming training opportunities and QI efforts;Establishes and leads a citywide maternal mortality review process;Participates in collaboratives working to improve sexual, adolescent, and women''s health services within SFDPH/UCSF and the citywide hospital delivery system;Develops and facilitates proctoring opportunities for other San Francisco Health Network and Title X clinicians to obtain and maintain medical privileges in IUD and contraceptive implant insertion and removal;Ability to work with staff from diverse social and economic backgrounds with respect, understanding, and teamwork -- including and especially staff from non-clinical disciplinesPerforms other related duties as assigned/required.Under the general direction of the Primary Care Chief Medical Officer and Primary Care Director of Population Health and Quality, the Physician Specialist performs the following essential job functions within Primary Care:Provides primary care, urgent care and relevant office based procedures to patients consistent with their medical specialty area through in-person, telehealth, and/or group visitsProvides telephone advice to patientsProvides patients with health education, counseling, and self-management supportProvides clinical case management for patients with complex care needs as indicatedMaintains accurate, timely and complete electronic medical recordsParticipates in staff meetings, project meetings, and conferences when indicatedParticipates in quality improvement and quality assurance initiativesWorks effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team with Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, MCAH, and community based organizations to coordinate care for patientsProvides consultative support to other members of the care teamParticipates in education and clinical supervision of other staff members including Family Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Medical Assistants and Health Workers, as well as UCSF medical students and residents who may rotate through the health center;Champion women''s and adolescent health services within SFHN PC with an equity lensPerforms limited administrative responsibilities and other duties as assigned by the PC CMOCollaborates with identified project staff on special projectsParticipates in after-hours remote on-call medical advice poolPerforms other related duties as assigned/requiredQualificationsRequiredPossession of a valid license to practice medicine issued by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California*ANDSuccessful completion** of a residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or American Osteopathic Association in the appropriate medical specialty area for the assigned facility or division (i.e., Board Eligible)ANDPossession of valid Drug Enforcement Agency registration with the United States Department of Justice****Applicants possessing a valid license to practice medicine issued from another state within the United States of America may apply, but if selected, the candidate will NOT be appointed/hired until they obtain a valid license to practice medicine issued by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California.**Applicants enrolled in a residency program may apply, but if selected, the candidate will NOT be appointed/hired until they demonstrate successful completion of a residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or American Osteopathic Association in a Psychiatric medical specialty area.***The above minimum qualifications reflect special conditions associated with the position(s) to be filled.
