This position will serve as support staff for the science faculty in both undergraduate and graduate degree programs, and work with the Lab Coordinator to ensure safe and efficient organization and operation of the science lab facilities and equipment. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Laboratory Technician position is a staff position that involves assisting science faculty with setting up, running, and cleaning up after undergraduate and graduate lab classes. This may include, but not be limited to:Preparing solutions and reagents for molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or chemistry teaching labsSetting up of equipment for lab classesWorking with and caring for model organisms (Drosophila, C. elegans, etc.)Taking down and cleaning lab equipment and glassware after lab classesPerforming demonstrations of lab techniques for science studentsSupervising student work in science lab classesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCandidates must have a strong background in organizing and operating science lab facilities, and supervising others working in a lab settingCandidates must have a strong background in science laboratory safety practices and protocolsCandidates must have an experience with common chemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, and/or biochemistry apparatus and techniquesCandidates must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skillsMinimum QualificationsThe candidate for this position needs to have graduated from a regionally accredited program with a Master''s degree or higher in Biochemistry or Biological Sciences, and have at least one year of experience after graduation working in a chemistry, biochemistry, or molecular biology lab, or teaching lab classes.The candidate needs to have strong lab skills and the ability to responsibly supervise undergraduate students in safely conducting lab exercises in a teaching lab setting.Desired QualificationsExperience working with nucleic acids (PCR, electrophoresis, sequencing, CISPR, etc.) Previous experience prepping and running undergraduate science lab classesAccreditation and equal opportunityLynn University does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, genetic information, age, pregnancy, parenting status, veteran status or retirement status in its activities and programs.
