POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst I works as part of the Business Intelligence department to enable use of actionable data by all IHA business units. Analyst helps integrate, analyze and interpret large datasets to produce reporting and insight. Contributes to process of modeling, building, validating and documenting enterprise data warehouse containing many types of data. Gathers requirements from business process owners and end-users to provide reporting and enable self-service data use. Uses statistics, machine learning, and other data analysis techniques to provide relevant and useful data findings. This position creates analyses, reports, documentation and presentations to share findings and insights with business users and executive leaders. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Provides customers with interactive visualizations, automated reports and ad hoc analyses using tools such as PowerBI, Tableau and SSRS. Creates, maintains and updates self-service datamarts for end-users using SSAS Tabular model. Supports and educates end-users on use of data. Utilizes advanced analytic techniques such as data mining using SQL; machine learning, forecasting and statistical analysis using Python or similar programs. Serves as project manager to implement and support project within department. Contributes to design, maintenance and documentation of enterprise data warehouse through all phases, design to production support. Initiates self-guided learning to acquire new skills and identify new technology to support the business. Works with customers across IHA to gather requirements and translate business needs into solutions. Creates reporting and presentations using data that can easily be interpreted by non-technical staff. Provides essential and timely information to executive leadership. Creates clear documentation including specifications, data dictionaries and end-user training materials. Performs other duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE: N/A MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 years data analysis experience required; healthcare or financial data analysis experience preferred. POSITION REQUIREMENTS (ABILITIES & SKILLS): Proficiency in querying data. Beginner-to-intermediate SQL and/or Python coding ability. Possesses expertise and knowledge in database structures, query languages and relationships between entities. Experience in all stages of BI project work (requirement definition, design, implementation, testing and deployment). Ability to serve as project manager to support projects within department. Proficient in operating a standard desktop and Windows-based computer system, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Excel, data analytic and reporting tools including query tools (Access, SQL, etc.), and interactive business intelligence products (Tableau, Power BI). Ability to use other software as required while performing the essential functions of the job. Initiates self-guided learning to acquire new skills and identify new technology to support the business. Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms, including proper phone etiquette. Ability to speak before groups of people, either in-person or virtually. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to work effectively with various customers including IHA staff, senior management, site medical directors, division heads, providers, patients, family members, outside customers, vendors, hospitals and community groups. Good organizational and time management skills to effectively juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to handle patient and organizational information in a confidential manner. Ability to drive to other office/practice sites and meeting and training locations. Successful completion of IHA competency-based program within introductory and training period.
