JOB SUMMARYThe HH Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) administers physical therapy treatments to patients in their home setting, working under the direction of the Physical Therapist.DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSConfers with members of the physical therapy staff, physician and other practitioners and team members in order to obtain patient information, suggest revisions in treatment program and integrates physical therapy treatment with other aspects of patient care.Administers active, passive, resistive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage and modality treatments such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation and hot/cold packs.Observes patient during treatments, compiles and evaluates data on patients'' response and progress and reports orally or in writing to the Physical Therapist. Completes all required documentation in EPIC accurately and timely to meet regulatory structs, motivates and assists patients to learn and improve functional activities.Fits patients for, adjusts and trains patients in use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers and wheelchairs.EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTSMinimum requirement:Associate''s Degree in Applied ScienceMaintains active licensure in the States of Kentucky and Ohio as a Physical Therapy AssistantAchieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)Two years'' experience practicing as a PTA.Maintains an active Driver''s License and access to a reliable vehicle daily.Preferred qualifications:N/AWORKING ENVIRONMENTConstantly works near moving mechanical partsConstantly exposed toblood and/or body fluids andinfection.Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicalsOccasionally exposed to risk of radiationThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Constantly required to operate a motor vehicle long distances in urban and rural areas.Occasionally exposed to unpleasant home environments.Occasionally exposed to adverse weather and unsafe road conditions.PHYSICAL DEMANDSOccasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting).Frequently required to walk and move about.Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.Frequently required to position self in order to meet patient needs including stooping and crouching.Occasionally required to position self in order to meet patient needs.
