DESCRIPTION Job summaryInterested in building Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions for mapping and geospatial applications that will have a lasting impact on society? The AWS geospatial mapping service team is looking for talented software development engineers who have the passion to tackle ambiguous and challenging problems by bringing cutting edge deep learning technologies in computer vision and build applications for geospatial analytics and tools that can impact our society globally. Our team leverages and builds with state of the art tech such as AWS SageMaker, serverless architecture, and massive global data sets alongside front end technologies like React.js, Redux, HTML5 CanvasKey job responsibilitiesAs a Software Engineer, you will:* Collaborate with the data science team to develop and deploy computer vision models to production and operationalize them at global scale.* Explore and analyze unstructured data like satellite or aerial images through image processing.* Take ownership to drive computer vision solutions and meet customer requirements.* Write high quality code that are modular, functional, testable and extensible* Solve complex architecture and business problems* Mentor and guide junior engineers on design, coding, troubleshooting and operational excellence* Establish the best processes and drive improvements in design, development and operations BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C including object-oriented design4+ years of professional software development experience2+ years of experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team* MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning or in related fields preferred but candidates with Bachelor''s degree in computer science are also welcome to apply provided they have a strong technical knowledge and experience in computer vision.* Strong experience in using both basic and advanced image processing algorithms for feature engineering.* 4+ years of professional software development experience* 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Python, Java, C++ or C including object-oriented design* 2+ years of experience in computer vision and/or deep learning for object detection and tracking along with semantic or instance segmentation either in academic or industrial domain.* 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems* Excellent written and verbal communication skills* Must be able to produce solutions independently in an organized manner and also be able to work in a team when required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Advanced knowledge in performance, scalability, numerical accuracy and best practices for implementing various solutions.* Proficiency with AWS cloud computing environments.* Proficiency with remote sensing, location, mapping and geospatial data* Must have curiosity, eagerness and motivation to be involved in Data Science and Image Processing.* Experience with any machine/deep learning frameworks like Tensorflow, Keras and PyTorchAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
