OverviewAutomation Controls EngineerIndustrial Systems DivisionJob Type: Full Time, Direct HireJob Status: Exempt, STOT EligibleReports To: Department Manager, Industrial SystemsLocation: Candidates ideally located at our office locations including, Maumee, OH, Indianapolis, IN, Cinncinnati, OH. Candidates not located near one of our offices listed above may be considered for position in our Kansas City, KS, Minneapolis, MN, Denver, CO, Peachtree City, GA or a remote opportunity.Description:The Controls Engineer works on a variety of automation projects, performing as a team leader and on occasion serves as a team member. This position intended to interact with specific clients within a specific industry, but may interact with others, to understand and develop automation requirements and transform them into effective software solutions. This is done through the use of software engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria; using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. This position establishes client relationships and mentors less experienced engineers. Strong knowledge of Rockwell PLCs and HMI with PlantPAx experience required; Experience with Schneider, Siemens, Wonderware, Ignition, Proficy is a plus; strong written and verbal communication skills, must be team-oriented. Experience in process automation is required; experience with batching and motion control systems considered a plus.Specifications:* Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited college or university* Ideally, 5 years or more of controls, automation, and electrical troubleshooting and start-up experience.* Engineer In Training (EIT) or Professional Engineering (PE) certification preferred* Varied industrial background is a plus. Key industries include food, chemical, pharmaceuticals, steel, glass, and manufacturing.* Ability to travel approximately 25-30%, both locally and overnight* Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship* Must possess a valid driver''s licenseDuties and Responsibilities:* Perform design and engineering functions in accordance with accepted practices and company standards.* Prepare project scopes of work, bill of material, design concepts, and cost estimates. Assist in gathering field data and preparing project specifications.* Develop high-quality, error-free industrial software programs in keeping with the defined project requirements.* Coordinate design with other members of the project team.* Prepare project correspondence as required.* Support onsite software startup and commissioning activities* Troubleshoot electrical devices and control circuits.* Maintain positive client relationships on projects assigned.Physical and Other Requirements* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk, and hear.* While performing the duties of this job, long periods of sitting at a computer are required.* The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds.* Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.About MatrixAt Matrix Technologies, our core values define our culture and we live out those values in everything we do.
