The Portfolio Team TPMs define and continually refine the technical strategy that shape Commercial Software Engineering priorities for investment into specific co-innovation opportunities. We work with the latest, cutting-edge development topics in our industries-for example, autonomous driving, software-defined vehicles, connected factories, and emerging cloud-based approaches for driving sustainability in the AMT domains. In parallel, Portfolio Team TPMs work with colleagues across the company to identify, qualify and scope high-impact engineering projects that align with this technical strategy. As part of their day-to-day work, Portfolio Team TPMs engage with customers and partners who are transforming their industries using the Microsoft cloud/edge platform and cultivate co-innovation opportunities centered around joint software development with our teams.This position is based out of Boston, MA offering a hybrid work schedule.Required/Minimum Qualifications* 8+ years'' experience in program management.* Proven record of success with program management and cloud-based product development in the software industry using AWS, Azure or GCP.* Strong knowledge of best practices in cloud architecture.* Deep understanding of cloud, edge, and other computing technologies, including business drivers and emerging trends across Microsoft and non-Microsoft technologies.* Experience working in geographically dispersed, virtual teams and ability to orchestrate high-performing engineering teams.* Self-starter and ability to work with a high degree of independence.* Ability to build relationships with senior technical and business stakeholders.* Track record of working closely with large engineering teams in a test-driven, agile development methodology.* Be prepared to spend 25-35% annually travelling within your global region (EMEA) with occasional travel worldwide.Preferred Qualifications* 3-5 years'' experience working in Automotive, Mobility, Transportation, or closely related industries.* 10+ years product/program manager experience.* 5+ years'' experience working on a technically challenging complex problem space.* BS in computer science, engineering, or equivalent degree* Ability to drive vision, planning, prioritization, execution activities.* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a history of hands-on, detail orientation.* Outstanding visual, verbal, and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences* Strong technical knowledge of development systems and services.* Strong project managements skills for complex, cross-group, cross-business, cross-disciplinary projects.Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer. If you need assistance and/or a reasonable accommodation due to a disability during the application or the recruiting process, please send a request via the Accommodation request form.Benefits/perks listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Microsoft and the country where you this role, you will be responsible for working directly on projects and in parallel work within a team of other TPMs to:* Drive constructive dialogue across technology, industry and customer/account facing teams within Microsoft to help qualify and narrow down the best opportunities to generate business impact within the Automotive, Mobility and Transportation industry area.* Assure that engineering projects are defined to generate immediate customer value while also maximizing long-term reuse potential and enabling industry adoption of Microsoft technologies.* Act as Product Owner (PO) on projects, developing problem statements, success criteria, definition of done, epics/stories, prioritized backlog, etc.* Drive the selection and prioritization of ongoing, foundational projects to create reusable assets.* Identify and provide feedback to product engineering teams on any technical blockers to Microsoft/Azure platform adoption-e.g., platform features, developer tooling, open source/third party solution integrations.* Investigate ''prior art'', both internally and externally, to make best use of existing assets and expertise.* Work with engineering managers to identify, onboard and make efficient use of subject matter experts in project teams as needs evolve over the project lifecycle.* Evolve best practices in open-source software (OSS) development to help project teams make consistently high-quality, sustainable OSS contributions.* Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge, to understand key architecture/design trade-offs, developer productivity/ease-of-use factors and competitive/alternative approaches that customers could take to addressing the scenario.* Cultivate AMT domain know-how around relevant industry topics within the AMT team and across related teams inside Microsoft.
