Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. The Endoscopy Procedural RN plans, directs, and coordinates the care of patients undergoing Endoscopic procedures. The Endoscopy Procedural RN identifies patients'' needs, sets goals with patients, and implements nursing interventions and activities to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Participates in the education and procedural teaching of patients and their significant others, maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring privacy. Communicates with the veterans and their families to assure understanding of their disease process and the goals of therapy. Provides emotional support and is a valuable link between them and the health care delivery system. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and colleagues, team building activities. Participates in continuing education and achieving and maintaining certification. Develops and participating in performance improvement activities. Identifies, analyzes and resolves care problems. Ensures that patient data is updated and accurate to ensure continuity of care. Assists physicians during diagnostic procedures, responding to emergency situations, assessing new treatments, giving meds, and writing reports. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Preferred Experience: Current GI/Endoscopy, ICU, Telemetry, or ER experience ACLS Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade: Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor''s degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor''s of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience.
