Job DescriptionRN - Assistant DONBronx, NY6-12+ MonthsUnder direction of the Associate Executive Director, Department of Nursing, or designee, participates in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating the nursing scheduling practices, nursing agency management and nursing office operations the hospital, assumes responsibility for planning, directing, organizing and evaluating programs of orientation, training and continuing education for nursing agency personnel in conjunction with nursing education. Assumes responsibility of day-to-day operations of the nursing office. Assesses nursing office operations by auditing nursing schedules monthly for completeness, timeliness and an efficient assignment of nursing personnel reflecting a balanced schedule prior to the addition of agency resources. Participates in implementing an effective system of clinical and administrative nursing records and reports tracking unscheduled leaves, OT & agency utilization; including OT & agency cancellations. Tracks & trends unscheduled leaves, including agency and OT cancellations. Works with nursing leadership on appropriate counseling/follow-up with involved staff. Tracks & trends agency utilization as relates to active FTE counts per division/unit to maintain budgeted number of resources in totality. Develops/maintains scheduling practices that ensure the accuracy of nursing staffing schedules on a daily basis. Performs related work as assigned.Excel ProficiencyLicensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State, plus (2) or (3) below.A Master''s degree in Nursing Administration, Education or an equivalent field and a minimum of six years of satisfactory nursing experience, of which four years shall have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity; or,A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and seven years of satisfactory nursing experience, five years of which shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity; or,A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience. However, all candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State.
