Lead Software Engineer

The Media Distribution team is looking to hire a talented Lead Software Engineer to support the growing Content Distribution & Origin (CDO) Engineering team. The Media Distribution team within Disney Streaming is responsible for the development, support, and management of the content delivery pipeline from the Origin to the end-user. We are caching infrastructure enthusiasts that care about employing best practices to develop scalable caching solutions. We''re responsible for the development and operational efficiency of Disney''s owned and operated Origin, Midtier, and Edge applications, which serve content for Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+, and Star+.Responsibilities:Oversee, engage, and execute security architecture and design reviews that are in alignment to a chosen framework.Analysis of known and emerging threats to determine risks against Disney Streaming content delivery assetsPrevent attacks through threat modeling, system audits, system hardening and policy complianceArchitect detection and mitigation strategies for common risk vectorsConsult internal information security resources within Disney Streaming and across TWDC to ensure supported platforms are following best practicesContribute to or lead a significant part of the implementation and deployment of control plane software for the Disney Origin, Midtier, and Edge infrastructure.Collaborate with development teams to implement security focused software featuresApply principled engineering practices including unit testing, integration testing, continuous integration and, by your example, lead others in your team to do likewise.Develop your technical understanding to support and build your career.Act as a mentor and an example to others in your team and across the organization.Basic Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years of security architecture, threat modeling, risk management, security engineering and tools, operations, and incident response experience.Minimum of 7 years of software development and/or systems engineering experience.Minimum of 7 years linux administration and/or development experience.BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experienceExperience securing large scale content delivery networks and expertise in the underlying HTTP, TLS, and DNS protocols.Experience with anomaly detection and observability tools such as ELK, Splunk, Kentik, Prometheus, Grafana, Influx, ClickHouse, etc.Knowledge of host and network based defenses including firewalls, AAA policy, DDoS mitigation.Additional Information:Location: New York, NY, San Francisco, CA, or Seattle, WA preferred but also open to US remote for the right candidate. DisneyTech The pay range for this position in Colorado is $129,150 to $173,250 per year, however, base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
