OverviewThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:Primary responsibility is to operations leadership and day-to-day operations in a vitrification facility: Being onsite during operations (requires shift work) Responsible for setup and disassembly of the GeoMelt system and for carrying out the duties necessary to maintain proper GeoMelt Operations Capable of operating specialty equipment and performing challenging technical tasks Seek assistance from senior Veolia staff as needed Must be capable of wearing a respirator as neededThis position is required to possess proficiency in computer applications, specifically email and spreadsheets. Employee must also have an ability to effectively communicate with various technical and managerial professionals. Must have the ability to adapt to working in a constantly changing work environment.Accountabilities Safely performing tasks in a radioactive and hazardous waste treatment environment Compliance with operating procedures, work instructions, and ESH&Q requirements Knowledgeable on technology and equipment deployed within the respective facility Facility operations within conditions of a Radioactive Materials License Work EnvironmentThis job takes place in operational facilities and control rooms, office environments, and test sites. Environment is in a hazardous waste treatment facility which requires compliance with conditions of a Radioactive Materials license. Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work involves daily exposure to unusual elements, such as dust, extreme temperatures, humidity, and/or noise. Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards. Position requires the ability to stand; sit at a desk; walk around office and plant; climb ladders; lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds; utilize dexterity; and reach, kneel, and twist to inspect and operate equipment. Also requires the ability to see; hear; and communicate both orally and in writing while utilizing professional etiquette. Work requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which will be provided by Veolia. Work schedule will include shift work.QualificationsEducation & Certifications: Associates Degree from a Technical College is required. Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred.Experience & Requirements: 0-5 years of applicable technical experienceExperience with system or component operations and maintenance is highly preferredExperience working with hazardous and/or radioactive materials is desirable.Other Duties:Please note that this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
