Employment Type:Full timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:The Health Information Management Specialist ensures all patient health information is accurately stored in the electronic medical record. This includes retrieving, prepping and quality checking paper documentation for scanning and indexing into the electronic medical record and may also include completing data integrity validation. Other responsibilities include auditing charts for completeness and entering record deficiencies into the electronic medical record system. Also performs a variety of other duties including back up for other clerical employees. The Health Information Specialist is responsible for providing excellent customer service at all times to all customers while protecting the patient''s right to privacy by ensuring only authorized individuals have access to the patient''s medical information and that all releases are in compliance with department policies, St. Mary''s Health Care System Policies, and HIPAA regulations. Must be able to keep up in a fast paced environment with standard productivity measures. Must be detail oriented, independent worker, with a professional attitude and a high level of customer service skills.Position Requirements:A: Licensure/Certification/Registration: None RequiredB: Education: Must have a high School diploma or GED. Prefer at least two years of college education, with three years'' experience in a medical record or medical office setting accepted in lieu of some college credit. Medical terminology desired.C. Experience: Must have at least one year experience in a medical or general office setting.D.
