Job Description

This is a PRN position.Responsibilities:Interviewing and evaluating prospective Kendal residents to determine appropriateness for admission to the Community.Performing annual physicals on community residents and staff. Identifying and managing chronic and acute health conditions by requesting laboratory and/or x-ray studies, initiating treatment and/or managing medication regimen.Administering first aid to employees by evaluating injuries and arranging further treatment if necessary. Working with KCC''s primary physicians within a Collaborative Practice Agreement to provide medical on- site support for residents in the Community.Participating in planning for residents'' needs as they transition from one level of care to the forming the Director of Resident Care if any anticipated or present problems and recommending a solution.Performing medical tasks as needed such as EKG''s, ear irrigation, etc.Administering treatments, injections, and medications to residents as prescribed, as municating lab and tests results to ordering physician and resident.Managing INR Lab results and follow up when necessary.Visiting residents in their apartment in emergency situations and for follow up of other assessments as indicated.Conducting telephone checks on residents as needed. Providing informal resident teaching regarding specific medical problems, cancer screening, i.e., mammograms, sigmoidoscopies and prostate screening.Administering annual flu vaccine and other recommended immunizations to residents.Administering employee flu and hepatitis B vaccinations and Mantoux injections.Discussing wellness and non-chemical interventions, i.e., healthy diet, exercise regimen toincrease flexibility, improve balance, reduce cholesterol, to promote restful sleep and reduce use of sedatives with residents.Responding to requests from residents, physicians and health care itiating requests for consultation or referral.Participating in Quality Assurance, Pharmacy and Infection Control municating resident assessment information to assist staff in the provision of care.Arranging and establishing orders for transfer to the Health Center or hospital, assisting indischarges from hospital or Westmorland and/or Cumberland areas.Renewing CRNP bi-annually and American Nurses Association recertification every five years for CRNPReading professional journals and other publications pertinent to the role of CRNP.Maintaining annual CPR certification which includes Training on the use of an AED device if working in personal careAttending appropriate seminars annually to maintain and update professional development and certificationGathering data and/or implementing nursing care to support research initiatives within theKendal system.Serving as preceptor to graduate nursing students in geriatrics.Identifying and recommending innovative ways to enhance quality of life in the geriatric populationRequirements:Master''s degree in nursingLicensed as an RN in the Commonwealth PACertified as a NP in the Commonwealth of PAFive years acute and/or long-term care experience as an RNThree years recent experience as an Acute Care, Adult-Gero, or Family Practice Nurse PractitionerAbility to obtain a current Drug Enforcement Agency registration. Current Prescriptive Authority approval by the Commonwealth of PAAbility to work collaboratively with physicians/healthcare providers and relate/communicate well with older peopleStrong leadership skills
