OverviewReporting to the President of SHARP Home Electronics Company of America (SHCA), the Sr. Vice President of Manufacturing for SHARP Manufacturing Company of America (SMCA), has operational and P&L responsibility for the 150+ person, three building, 70-acre Memphis manufacturing campus. SMCA is a unionized operation and manufactures premium built-in kitchen [cooking] appliances under the SHARP brand (U.S. and Canada) and for about a dozen OEM brands. As the most senior leader of SMCA, the Sr. Vice President of Manufacturing provides strategic, commercial, operational, and technical leadership in overseeing the manufacturing facility. Functional areas of responsibility with six direct reports includes engineering, product design and planning, OEM sales, component procurement, production, QC and product safety, HR, legal, and finance. This role will drive the achievement of profitable revenue growth and continue building great teams, diversity, equity, and inclusion, all while espousing our principal ideals of Sincerity and Creativity. As SHARP is a Japanese-based company, there is frequent communication with our HQ involving evening calls. The in-office position is based in Memphis, TN.Responsibilities* Set strategic direction and provide thought leadership. Guide the entire SMCA organization in providing superior and cost-effective product manufacturing for SHARP''s consumer products and for OEM customers.* Actively co-develop strategies with the extended SHCA leadership team to achieve profitability and growth, with specific responsibility for product development, engineering and manufacturing excellence.* Assist SHCA President with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced technology with compelling ROI return.* Formulate and execute short-term and long-range plans coupled with P&L budgets that are aligned with company goals and growth objectives.* Oversee the manufacturing of products on a day-by-day basis, ensuring production, performance, and quality standards are consistently met. Implement necessary changes in management systems, human resources, and administrative processes to achieve desired results.* Ensure that responsibilities, authorities and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.* Review and evaluate manufacturing activities, performances, and results through a standard suite of reports (scorecards, dashboards, etc.). Provide monthly reports and feedback of factory performance to SHCA President and HQ staff.* Engage, identify, and remove problems with schedules, excessive costs, material delays, or other factors that would compromise the successful execution of the business plan. Effectively manage key operating metrics such as lead time, on-time delivery, cost of poor quality, inventory, employee engagement.* Lead the factory to improve quality, safety, productivity, and reduction of waste on a consistent basis with every process. Repeatedly review these metrics for continual process improvement.* Direct all branded and OEM sales efforts and new business development. Maintain awareness of competitors, the satisfaction of customers and market opportunities.* Create and maintain a sound plan of the company''s organization. Ensure adequate and capable management development.* Establish equitable personnel and salary administration policies and employee benefit plans throughout SMCA to ensure the welfare of employees. This includes a focus on training, education, and retainment. Oversee all key management hires, terminations, promotions, training, and merit increases.* Maintain good working relationships and open communication with unionized factory employees and their labor representatives to improve safety, quality, and productivity.* Confirm and ensure a healthy and safe working environment, compliance to all ISO 9001 and 14001 standards, and with laws and regulations issued by OSHA, EPA, EEO, and other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.* Promote communication and adequate information flow through the development of proper procedures and controls.* Aggressively engage the development of new products that further SMCA''s ability to win and respond to customer needs rapidly.* Perform other related duties and special projects as requested.CORE COMPETENCIES* Change Agent - Articulate the need for constant changes to stay competitive.* Building a Growth Mindset - Know the competition and the market needs. MBA a plus.* At least fifteen years of experience in industrial management / factory operations.* Familiarity with home appliances and/or consumer electronics a plus.* Excellent organizational and managerial skills.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.* Thorough understanding of the policies and practices used in a manufacturing division.* Ability to set long-term goals and communicate them to others.* Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals.* Procurement-related experience including contract negotiation and competitive process management.* Strong project management and process skills.* Strong leadership and negotiation skills to deal with both internal and external parties.* Strong leadership / interpersonal / communication skills in building, leading, and motivating a team.* Demonstrated business / financial acumen.* Ability to get things done in a matrixed organization.* Self-starter with superior time management, detail orientation and organization skills.* Fluent with Microsoft Office Suite including Teams.* Hands on working knowledge of SAP system a plus.* TRAVEL: Generally, not significant.* Please include a cover letter along with your resume highlighting your career experiences that makes you a highly qualified candidate for the position of Sr. VP - SMCA.
