The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is seeking a qualified individual to join the Office of Emergency Medical Service (OEMS) as an Ambulance Regulation Program (ARP) Coordinator. The ARP Coordinator tracks and prioritizes incoming applications, responds to inquiries regarding regulatory ambulance service licensure questions, assists with suitability review for initial license applicants, and processes and maintains database updates relative to ambulance service inspections, licensure, and certification.Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):* Primary channel for internal and external ambulance service applicant communications* Tracks and prioritizes incoming applications, stages of review, and processing* Responds to inquiries related to ambulance service licensure and required equipment carried on ambulances* Assists with suitability review for initial license applicants* Prepares, proofreads, and edits correspondence related to inspection and licensure of ambulance services* Coordinates unit activities regarding distribution, review and processing of application and inspection documents related to ambulance service* Coordinates and processes renewal applications and tracking of ambulance service vehicle certifications* Uses OEMS database to document inspection data, ensure timeliness of activities and maintain information on ARP inspection activities* Supports compliance with the Public Records Law (MGL Chapter 66, Section 10) by tracking and responding to public record requests in coordination with unit and Department staffRequired Qualifications:* Ability to use common computer applications (such as Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Pro, Word, Excel, and Access) and database management.* Capability to write concisely, express thoughts clearly and develop ideas in a logical sequence with proper grammar, punctuation and spelling.* Capacity to assess validity, quality, and appropriateness of submitted applicant materials in relation to standards and regulatory requirements.* Potential to prepare documents and reports accurately and assemble items of information in accordance with established procedures.* Capacity to work independently, with attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize inquires and tasks appropriately.Preferred Qualifications:* Knowledge of EMS and/or public safety systems.* Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of data to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.* Capacity to gather information by examining records and documents and by questioning individuals.* Capability to prepare and use charts, graphs and tables.* Able to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.* Potential to use common computer applications (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) at an intermediate level.About the Department of Public Health:The mission of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is to prevent illness, injury, and premature death, to assure access to high quality public health and health care services, and to promote wellness and health equity for all people in the Commonwealth.We envision a Commonwealth in which all people enjoy optimal health.
