Functional Title Water Quality Control Specialist Division Name Drinking Water Lab Recruitment Type Technical Specialties- Environmental Functional Category Technicians Grade 14 Salary Range $33,000 - $41,300 FLSA Status Non-Exempt Number of Vacancies 1 Job Code TE1335 Reports to Water Quality Control Superintendent Full or Part Time Full Time Hours per week (If Part Time) N/A Essential/Non-Essential Essential Regular or Temporary Regular Position End Date (if temporary) N/A Work Schedule Monday - Friday Position Location Atlanta Georgia General Description: This employee investigates water quality inquiries from City of Atlanta Drinking Water customer, routinely flushes distribution system fire hydrants to improve and maintain water quality and occasionally inspects and chlorinates the installation of new water mains. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to the following: consult consumers about water quality in their businesses and residences; collects representative water samples; operates water line valves and fire hydrants to ensure proper water flow and improve water quality; operates and maintains portable chemical feed equipment to ensure proper dosage of chemical solutions; reviews plat cards and as-built plans; ensures job site is safe and equipment is operated in a safe manner while wearing all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Operate motor vehicles to drive to sampling locations throughout the water service area. Support the relationship between the City of Atlanta and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors, the public and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information. This employee investigates customer complaints concerning water quality, flushes fire hydrants to improve distribution circulation and disinfects newly installed or serviced water mains and storage tanks. The employee w ill be required to conduct field duties and complete water quality sheets honestly and independently. Therefore, employee must be trustworthy. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Preferred Qualifications: Drinking water distribution or water quality/purification experience. Licenses and Certifications: Applicants must have a valid Georgia Driver''s License at the time of application and must obtain a valid Georgia Water Distribution license within one year of employment.
