Lab Assistant PRN

The Laboratory Assistant performs phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients via venipuncture and/or finger punctures. Performs any other task as assigned by Management.Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.Rotates and Maintains adequate stock of suppliesMaintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, faxing and filing.Ensures all heel, and port charges are given to managerEnsures all STATs, and TIMED draws are collectedly on time and all routine draws are collected reasonably manner.Ensures transfer of documents to Lab Corp and sending appropriate amount of sample for reference testingAssist Emergency Department with all phlebotomy, especially stat Troponin testingPerforms the tuberculin skin test (also called a Mantoux tuberculin test) on new hires. Perform eScreen Drug of Abuse DOT and Non DOT testing. Assist techs with Dipoing urines for Urinalysis, set up microbiology plates when indicated, set up Streptococcus Screens, Influenza, RSV, and Urine HCGs.Perform Therapeutic Phlebotomy According to Procedure.Perform heel sticks and venipunctures on Neonates.To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.Every effort has been made to make this job description as complete as possible.
