Sr. Manager Accounting, External Reporting

Position OverviewSupport the External Financial Reporting Director in the preparation and review of all external financial reporting requirements of the Company, ensure accounting policies and controls comply with GAAP principles, lead contact with external auditors, provide accounting support to internal finance groups, assist with oversight of subsidiary and affiliate accounting and finance responsibilities.General Accounting overview:Analyzes and prepares external financial statements, reporting and statutory accounts, responsible for all accounting policies, coordination of external audits, act as GAAP accounting subject matter expert for the company.Prepares, records, analyzes and reports accounting transactions, maintains and reconciles technically advanced general ledger accounts, and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles.Provides financial support for assigned areas, including preparation of company- wide management reporting, budgeting & forecasting, analyzing variances to plan.Manages accounting and reporting for C&S affiliates and assists External Financial Reporting Director with accounting oversight and management of C&S subsidiary companies.Work with Business Development team to provide reporting, analysis and support for M&A opportunities. Provide assistance with GAAP accounting for transactions and coordinate with outside firms to perform and review valuations as necessary.Job DescriptionResponsibilities:Develop and manage the quarterly timetable for quarterly and annual external reporting, including : reporting requirements and timing, investor calls, pre-call reviews, script reviews, external audit reviewsEnsure the accurate and timely compilation of C&S quarterly and annual external reporting :Prepare and/or review monthly and quarterly financial statement consolidations in accordance with GAAPPrepare and coordinate the preparation and review of quarterly financial statement filings, including drafting of the footnotes and MD&A.Prepare quarterly Board of Directors and external auditor presentations.Lead communication with, and support for external auditors.Be the subject matter expert with regard to GAAP accounting at C&S, involvingPerform technical research and conclude on complex accounting issues through discussions with management and preparation of memoranda.Evaluate recently issued Accounting standards and analyze the impact on the CompanyOngoing discussions with external auditorsCommunication of accounting changes to and ongoing discussions with internal accounting groupsMaintain and update the Company''s accounting policies to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.Responsibility for controls/internal audit, involvingLead quarterly reviews of balance sheet reconciliationsPrepare certain complex account reconciliationsEnsure company policies and procedures are documented and adhered toProvide support to quarterly P&L and Balance Sheet forecast processManage, review and report monthly, quarterly and annual performance of C&S affiliate companies.Assist External Financial Reporting Director with reporting, managing and maintaining accounting at C&S subsidiary companies including coordination with on-site accounting teams to ensure proper accounting is being performed and effective controls are in place and being followed.Provide support to Business Development team for M&A activities, including:Provide financial reports, analysis and transactions records in requested formatsReview target company financial statements and reconciliationsOpening balance sheet preparationCoordinate with valuation specialists to perform any necessary valuationsAnalyze and validate transition of accounting from acquisition target to parent companyRecruit, manage and develop employees including :Identification of annual objectives and performance assessment thereofProvide training and development opportunities consistent with objectivesQualifications:Bachelor''s degree in Accounting, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Master''s degree in Accounting or BusinessFive or more years in a professional or corporate accounting position; minimum senior staff accountant level.Demonstrated proficiency in Excel; experience with financial systems and software (e.g. GL package, Financial reporting system) preferredQualificationsBachelor''s Degree - AccountingShift1st Shift (United States of America)CompanyC&S Wholesale Grocers, Inc.About Our CompanyC&S Wholesale Grocers, Inc. , based in Keene, NH, is the largest wholesale grocery supply company in the U.S. and the industry leader in supply chain innovation.
