OverviewAccepting applications Open & closing dates 08/12/2022 to 08/26/2022 Salary $74,950 - $97,430 per year Pay scale & grade GS 11 Help DutiesThe Associate Chief Counsel, Procedure & Administration located in Washington, DC, comprises approximately 100 attorneys and 80 support personnel. The primary work areas provide legal services in federal tax procedure and administration. The office''s responsibilities include legal issues arising out of the assessment and collection of federal taxes, bankruptcy, ethics, abatement, credits, refunds of federal taxes, judicial proceedings, and disclosure of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act matters.As a Federal Register Liaison, you will: Assist in the planning and direction of the publication of regulations within the requirements of the Office of the Federal Register (OFR), the Administrative Procedures Act and applicable statutes and executive orders. Serve as secondary Office of Chief Counsel and Internal Revenue Service liaison officer with the OFR. Research and assist in the preparation of regulations for publication in the Federal Register from all legal areas in the Office of Chief Counsel. Advise attorneys and other personnel on procedures and requirements for publishing documents in the Federal Register. Act as a liaison with IRS office of Media Relations and coordinates timely release of published documents. Coordinate the file and publication dates. Act as Federal Register Certifying Officer, certifying regulations and related documents for publication in the Federal Register. Acknowledge, classify, distribute and otherwise process public comments received on proposed regulations and other published guidance. Advising legal clients on procedural and technical publication process and proofreading written material to ensure compliance with established format and agency policy. Editing the work of others by applying appropriate rules of grammar, format, organization, and correlation of parts, and consistency.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-9).OREducation Substitution: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M. in Taxation/Tax Law.ORCombination of Education and Experience: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education: Options for qualifying based on a combination are identified in the online questions.NOTE: If qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application package.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
