The hospital provides a host of technologically advanced services including Cardiovascular, Neuro, Orthopedic, Bariatric and General Surgery, Interventional Pulmonology and services for Women. Regional holds Joint Commission advanced certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Get with the Guidelines- Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. County-designated STEMI (heart attack) Receiving Center designated Lung Cancer Screening Center, a member of Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ECMO) and certified by The Joint Commission in Sepsis care. POSITION SUMMARY: The Trauma Nurse Coordinator assists the Trauma Program Director and Trauma Medical Director with the development, implementation, and evaluation of the trauma program. The Trauma Nurse Coordinator participates in clinical rounds, monitors and measures the quality and timeless of care provided by physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers for injured patients throughout the continuum of care. The Trauma Nurse Coordinator will facilitate and coordinate quality assurance/improvement activities, from pre-hospital care through discharge and rehabilitation. The Trauma Nurse Coordinators role is structured to facilitate interaction with all units and disciplines involved with trauma care. The Trauma Nurse Coordinator is a valuable resource for staff development as an expert clinician as well as a resource to organizations and systems in improving quality and conserving resources. The Trauma Nurse Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation and on-going evaluation of the Trauma Injury Prevention Program at Regional Medical Center of San Jose.SCHEDULE: 1.0 Full TimeSHIFT: Days; with rotating weekends.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:Minimum: Possess a Bachelors Degree in Nursing or be enrolled in a program leading to such a degree within 6 months of hire Preferred: MastersLICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:RequiredValid California RN licenseBasic Life Support (BLS)Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)PALS or ENPCPreferred: o CCRN or CEN, membership and participation in local, regional and national trauma organizationsEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Five years experience in critical care or emergency department trauma centerWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
