OverviewAre you a Release Manager that would like to be part of delivering product releases, modernization, and interoperability of systems and processes to provide Veterans and their families the most efficient and timely service and benefits? Our team will provide application modernization, implementing a standard platform, common data sharing models, and establish astandardizedapproach to software delivery resulting in a positive impact for millions of people. If so, we may have an opportunity for you! ResponsibilitiesPlan the release of project deliverables and release life cycle. Communicate the project-related tasks such as plans, timelines, requirements, etc. between different teams Coordinate the release schedule and resources required depending upon the third-party applications, defect backlogs, planned releases, and infrastructure updates Identify the risks that can delay the release and manage them, such that the scope scheduled, and quality of the release is not affected Track the progress and find issues, if any. Always work to improve the process of release Make sure that the release is planned, according to the requirements and budget Schedule the release readiness reviews before deployment and milestone reviews after each release Create plans for the implementation and deployment as per the release schedule Plan and give weekly updates on the release activities Make sure the allocation of Release Engineers to every release Communicate with release managers from different IT departments Lead the Go-Live activities to deploy the software successfully Team up with relevant development teams responsible for building the automation tools used to develop and deploy the software Schedule the CAB meetings to discuss the release schedules with the team and find roadblocks, if any QualificationsA Release Manager must have experience in management of individual releases of software, hardware or other system components. Must have experience in coordinating with QA, Development, packaging and hardware teams The release manager must have experience in documenting releases, risks and in maintaining the schedule of planned releases Position Required knowledge of the VA''s applications supported by Linux/Unix and all their various PM''s for scheduling and patch deployments Experience in planning the release of project deliverables and release life cycle Excellent programming skills and experience Ability to handle software infrastructure management & configuration management An expert understanding of software development lifecycle Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent analytical skills Structured thinking Experience in coordinating cross-functional work teams up to task completion Education : Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, or related scientific /technical discipline and 10+ years work experience.
