The mission of the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF) is to provide for the socio-economic betterment of the greater Latino community of California, while preserving the pride, values and heritage of the Mexican American culture.Title: Nutrition Aide IIDepartment: MAOF Head Start State/Preschool ProgramStatus: Non-exempt, Part Time (20 hr per week)Supervised by: Nutrition CoordinatorHead TeacherProgram DirectorGeneral Purposes: To plan and prepare meals for the children, as stated in the Head Start State/Preschool program nutrition guidelines according to the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations.Responsibilities:Under the guidance of the Site Supervisor and the Nutrition Coordinator, he/she will follow established MAOF procedures and official guidelines and regulations to accomplish the following activities:• Prepares meals for children daily,• Prepares snacks for children daily,• Takes the temperature of food upon arrival and at time of serving daily.• Assists in serving lunch to children,• Retrieves, washes, and disinfects dishes, utensils, and other items used in serving andpreparing food,• Keeps kitchen in a clean and sanitary condition,• Performs other light housekeeping duties as required,• Attends staff meetings as assigned• Observes necessary health, sanitary, and safety procedures,• Maintains clean and neat personal appearance,• Wears apron and hair net DAILY,• Treats each child with warmth, affection, respect and dignity,• Other duties as assigned.Attends trainings or seminars conducted at MAOF or elsewhere as assigned and necessary to have effective nutrition activities,Requirements:1. High School Diploma or equivalent;2. Units in Child Development/Early Childhood Education preferred;3. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred;4. Basic mathematical calculations and draw logical conclusions;5. Plan well with a minimum of supervision; Current ServSafe Certification preferred6. Ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers,supervisors, and the public; work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues.7. Must provide vaccination records for influenza, pertussis and measles at the time of employment, annual requirement thereafter (If applicable)Physical Requirements:While performing duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk; to use both hands to handle or feel objects and supplies and materials necessary to fulfill the demands of the job. To talk or hear when working with peers, teachers, parents, children, internal departments and/or members of the community on the telephone or in person. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms when accessing reference materials. Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job includes close vision and distance vision. While performing the duties of this position, the employee works in a normal office environment where the noise level is usually moderate. To carry out this job, and individual must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily.
