We have an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, customer focused, Migrant Seasonal Farm Worker (MSFW) Outreach Specialist that willsupport our WorkSource Yakima office. Our Migrant Seasonal Farmworker (MSFW) position is an Outreach position, and you will spend most of your time outside of the WorkSource office conducting outreach to Migrant and Seasonal Farmworkers, where they live, work, and gather. DutiesIn this role as the MSFW outreach staff, you will spend the majority of your time outside of the WorkSource office conducting outreach to Migrant and Seasonal Farmworkers. You will also work with employers within the Agricultural industry to assist them in meeting their needs by referrals to employment, placements, and assistance with the H-2A program information. The MSFW outreach worker also contacts non-agricultural employers to conduct job development for farm workers to help them obtain training and year-round employment. You will play a pivotal role in supporting a vital industry in Washington, as well as advocating for agricultural workers and their families. What your typical day may look like: Communicate in both English and Spanish to promote agency and partner programs and services to encourage maximum utilization of available services. Participate in outreach to MSFW customers where they live, congregate, and work. Provide the full range of staff-assisted core and intensive services to WorkSource customers in both English and Spanish as needed. Conduct in-depth interviews, registrations, provide Unemployment Insurance information, review job readiness, assess employment barriers and customer needs.Identify employment and/or training goals, provide a basic summary of farmworker rights.Provide career and/or employment guidance and training information; refer customers to job search, training providers and/or support service resources.Network and develop strong working relationships with service providers and perform outreach to OIC, Migrant Farmworker Head Start providers, housing facilities, etc. To request a detailed position description, click here. This is an in-training opportunity and will be hired as a WorkSource Specialist 3. You will be required to successfully complete the training plan in order to promote to the goal class of WorkSource Specialist 4. QualificationsRequired: Qualified candidates will have one (1) or more of the following experiences and/or education. Such as: W orkforce development, social or human resource services, public relations, or public contact work, such as: unemployment insurance, social services, human resource services, education, public relations, benefits programs, insurance claims, law enforcement and banking. WorkSource Specialist 3 Option 1: A combination of education and/or relevant experience* totaling no less than six (6) years. Option 2: One (1) year of experience as a WorkSource Specialist 2 within the Employment Security Department, or in an equivalent class with another state''s Employment Security agency. Education to Experience Equivalences: Associate Degree = 2 years | Bachelors Degree = 4 years | Masters or Higher = 5 yearsAdditional Requirement of Employment:Ability to communicate effectively in person, via telephone and in writing in English AND Spanish.This position requires in-person attendance with no option for full-time telework.
