Job Description SUMMARYResponsible for proper operations of the engine room department. Provide technical support and reliable operation of the assigned vessel; Maintain the operation of the vessel within the QHSE system. Class and Flag state regulations. Maintain vessel with minimum machinery down time. Be a team leader when working with the vessel crew. Assure that maintenance and repair cost is kept within budget.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Actively promote and comply with all QHSE policies and procedures* Support Master during major emergencies* Maintain vessel in accordance with all Flag State and Classification Society requirements and to the recommendations of applicable guidelines as well as area of operations legal requirements.* Ensure all required surveys, documentation submittals, etc. are carried out in a timely manner to ensure minimum out of time service.* Work directly with the engineering department in putting together a work and repair list for upcoming dry docking.* Work with the engineering department to establishment an annual budgets and forecasting of vessel costs, monthly expense.* Work directly with vendors and specialist support groups to assure that all repairs are completed to your satisfaction.* Maintain proper amount of spares inventory onboard the vessel at all times.* Assist engineering group with the annual hull condition surveys, dry-dock and other repair estimatesJob Requirements QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or ability required. Upon request, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with qualified disabilities to perform the functions.* Approximately six years of commercial, Navy, or National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)* Port engineer experience with Navy and SHIPMAN processes* USCG third Assistant Engineer or higher license preferred.EDUCATIONB.S. Degree in Engineering or higher. Five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
