Lab Assistant

Job SummaryThe Lab Assistant will handle all laboratory cleaning responsibilities, which includes but is not limited to constantly cleaning glassware, countertops and floors. The Lab Assistant will also ensure that the garbage is not overflowing and dispose of hazardous waste. Essential FunctionsContinuously clean glassware by using cleaning machine and scrubber as needed. Organize and store cleaned glassware in storage cabinets or designated area in the laboratory.Clean laboratory floor and benches, remove garbage from laboratory area, discard laboratory generated waste to designated waste collecting containers.Ensure lab supplies are stocked on a daily basis and arrange the incoming items at their designated places in order to allow First In and First Out (FIFO) useHelp in keeping optimum lab inventory, receive the shipments in and logging in the Material receiving logbook.Additional ResponsibilitiesOccasionally order lab supplies when required.Microbiology-Gather post testing reject samples for decontamination, run autoclave cycles for sterilization and decontamination, wash decontaminated glassware, and organize cleaned glassware for drying and place dried glassware to their storage locations.Perform any other duties as requested by laboratory management.EducationHigh School or GED - PreferredWork ExperienceNo experience - RequiredLess than one year in pharmaceutical or cleaning - PreferredSkills and AbilitiesGood communication skills, must be able to comprehend and follow written and verbal procedures or instructions. - IntermediateAbility to read, write, and communicate in English at a level to facilitate the understanding terminology of the job. - IntermediateMust have basic math skills. - IntermediateMust be able to work flexible schedules, overtime as needed.
