Food Service Cashier

Position DescriptionOCCUPATIONAL SUMMARYPerforms opening, closing, stocking, clerical, cashier and money-management tasks in the retail areas. Exercises courtesy and patience while assisting patients, families, and others in order to maintain sound public relations.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Sets up cash register, checks operation, and counts money prior to opening of cafeteria. Completes all cash reports in an accurate and timely manner after each meal period.Checks serving line prior to opening to ensure that items are available and ready for serving. Inventories and maintains necessary supplies to ensure efficiency of retail operations.Totals individual food purchases made by customers, and operates cash register to make transactions for various items sold in cafeteria. May also be required to orient new cashiers, and cross check receipts of other cashiers for control purposes.Listens to customer recommendations and complaints, and reports significant problems to plies with department''s cash register and pricing methodology, with minimum overages and/or shortages.Maintains cashier station and dining room in a clean an orderly condition at all times, including table tops, condiment stations and other assigned areas. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury"‘accident to Manager.Participates and attends departmental meetings and staff development programs as appropriate.Position RequirementsKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREDMust be able to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions.Ability to perform simple math computations, operates standard cash registers, and makes accurate cash transactions of customer purchases Good communication skills.KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERREDSix (6) months prior experience in cashiering, customer service or cash collections.License/Certification Requirements: NoWork Hours: 11a-7pWeekend Requirements: YesOn-Call Requirements: No
