Hybrid work location of Augusta , Maine , Not 100% remote position; 2 to 3 days a week in the office Responsibilities: Responsible for tracking, processing, and reconciling of Accounts Payables for Maine CDCs Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory (HETL)Will work closely with, and within a team of other financial specialistsWill develop and maintain working relationships with laboratory vendorsWill cross train and learn other aspects of the finance processes necessary to support the day-to-day operations of this critical teamLearn to navigate several data platforms necessary for the financial operations of the laboratoryCreate, and improve upon, standard operating proceduresCoordinate with other HETL finance team members to ensure and create efficiencies in process interactions.Train and on-board new team members and help to define their rolesAdvise the HETL Finance Team leaderOther Responsibilities: Daily processing and reconciliation of accounts payable transactionsAssist in the accounts payable reconciliation processCollate and verify accounts payable totals for Advantage MEUpdate financial reportsLocate records from electronic and manual record systemsSupport accounting tasks for the HETLPerform routine office tasksCreate spreadsheets and perform data managementOrganize, record, and maintain computerized and/or manual filesQualificationsExperience and Education An Associate Degree from an accredited educational institution in Accounting -OR- any Bachelors Degree from an accredited educational institution that includes 12 semester hours in accounting coursework -OR- 3 years of practical work experience providing complex technical support to professional accounting staffAccounting coursework must include successful completion of Principles of Accounting I & II plus two other accounting-related coursesEntry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through,BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TOthe following course work/training and/or experience)Experience must demonstrate comprehension and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelinesPreferred candidates will have:Ability to work effectively with program personnel, accounting staff and agency managersAbility to apply accounting theory and principles to identify and resolve systemic issuesKnowledge of General Accepted Accounting PrinciplesKnowledge if Governmental Accounting Standard Board GuidelinesExcellent oral and written communication skillsStrong attention to detailStrong organizational skillsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external partnersKnowledge of standardized office software technology and products (word processing, spreadsheets, and databases)Ability to work with managers and staff to provide outreach materials for individuals in need of technical assistanceThis job is scheduled for 40 hours per week. Normal working hours are between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday-Friday. All work must be performed onsite at the Augusta, ME location, there is no ability to work remotely.
