As a Technology Lead - Biologics and Novel Modality Discovery, Scientific Informatics will lead cross-functional project teams to streamline data workflows and bring operational and scientific excellence to the scientific teams through the adoption of innovative data and computational technologies to solve scientific challenge. As a Technical lead, you will have the opportunity to lead and bring innovative informatics solutions using the latest technologies available or develop new solutions leveraging the advanced analytics and machine learning. The technology leader will be the subject matter expert for solution architecture and platform advice on various big data and cloud computing technologies. This role will be closely aligned with Business analysts, Systems Architects, Scientists, Product Engineers and Product Designers on an ecosystem of latest informatics products, computing technologies, platforms, analytics, and microservices to keep Takeda at the leading edge of drug discovery research. A typical day will include:POSITION OBJECTIVES:Provide hands on technical leadership to the design, development and deployment of data and computational solutions for business groups working on Biologics and Novel Modality Discovery following the agile SDLC methodologies and regulatory guidelines.Bring deep technical expertise and understanding of informatics products and technologies to define a robust and clear informatics strategy around high dimensional big data, high performance computing, machine learning/AI and other advanced analytics and cloud infrastructure.Collaborate with the scientists, computation biologists and product teams to support a strong portfolio of applications and products to enable biologics and novel modalities discovery research.Evaluate and assess innovative informatics technologies (big data and cloud platforms) and domain specific informatics solutions for biologics and novel modalities and drive the implementation and adoption of these technologies appropriately.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:Responsible for designing, building, maintaining, supporting, and further developing the interdisciplinary Biologics and Novel Modalities Discovery data management platform and the key application specialist for the systems. This work involves further developing the biologics screening and engineering, in silico immunogenicity prediction, and in silico developability prediction platform leveraging AI and machine learning technologies. Specific responsibilities include but not limit the following: Develop and enhance a biotherapeutics data analysis and management platform Dev el op new technologies for the Cloud based Bioinformatics analysis platformDevelop and adopt specific biologics in silico prediction algorithmsBroad bioinfo m1 atics tool integration for Se quence analysis, NGS data analysis and data miningGeneral performance and usability enhancementsBioinformati c s related system maintenance and supportLead technical scientific data and computational systems development based on business, product and IT analyses, evaluate and use different technologies, patterns and design methods along with modern scripted deployment techniques to rapidly and iteratively deliver on product development and enhancementsOversee the software components/technology services (microservices, containers, API development) and solutions (functional and analytical), lead the design and developments with internal IT teams and in partnership with vendors based on business analyses and formulated requirements using internal coding standards, tools and modular best practices.Understand the business priorities and key programs and engage with scientists to implement data and computational systems and terpret R&D functional strategy and make decisions with an impact on the discipline''s global work processes with an identifiable impact on results.Assist in shaping the Scientific Informatics data and technology portfolio through the implementation of solutions for Biologics and Novel Modalities that will aid in uncovering new insights for the discovery of new therapies.Identifies, tests and drive new technology acquisitions in the context of business processes to solves complex problems while understanding the impact on other disciplines.Maintains strong relationships with both R&D and other IT functions and employs negotiation skills to reach agreement with internal or external parties.Brings in depth domain expertise on advanced analytics and informatics technologies, cloud deployments. Publish and present externally and internally and seen as an industry leader in scientific informatics.EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Bachelor''s degree or equivalent in Scientific, Informatics, Computer Science or related (engineering/quantitative) disciplines. Five years of experience in the use, design and/or architecture of scientific or pharmaceutical life sciences products/systems or equivalent academic experience. Deep understanding of pharmaceutical R&D scientific processes. Domain knowledge and familiarity with biologics and novel modalities'' high dimensional data, modeling and analytics approaches used in molecular modeling and simulation. Hands on experience with cloud platform development and deployment. Working with big data using EMR, SPARK, Python/R technologies. Knowledge and understanding of R&D scientific processes and how to translate process, UX, usability and operational feedback into technical designs, roadmaps and implementation. Track record of active participation in the scientific and technology community to stay current with analytics methodologies, software, and data development and a recognized leader in specific areas. Ability to work in an agile and rapid changing environment with high quality deliverables and is considered a subject matter expert in the technical area of expertise. Excellent oral and written communications skills, business acumen with problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to write and speak in the English language.
