Network Software Engineer III

JOB SUMMARYThe Network as a Service team is part of Charter''s Data Science and Data Engineering (DSDE) organization, in the Network & Data Software Engineering branch. The team is responsible for building and maintaining a platform that provides automation of various network functions in a microservices architecture. This position will be responsible for planning and implementing web service infrastructure to support enhancements to and new development of Charter products. This position will report directly to the Director of Network as a Service (NaaS).MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESActively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experienceParticipates in network planning, network architecture design and engineeringIntegrates and schematically depicts communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurationsEvaluates new products, performs network problem resolutionAssists in the development and documentation of technical standardsDevelops and implements approved methods of procedureDesigns and establishes protocol compatibility standards, develops and implements networkenhancements and makes recommendations for improvementWorks on projects/ systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimizationProvides escalated tier support across organizations and to third party vendorsWorks on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team leadCoaches less experienced staffAdhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicableKnows, understands and follows company policyPerforms other duties as requested by supervisorREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSRequired Skills/Abilities and KnowledgeAbility to read, write and speak the English languageAbility to use personal computer and software applicationsDemonstrated in-depth data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport)Ability to work in a team environmentDemonstrated in-depth knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocolsDemonstrated in-depth knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topologyDemonstrated in-depth knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of basic network devices and basic network appliancesDemonstrated in-depth knowledge of network designing software, such as VisioAbility to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quicklyKnowledge of Microsoft OfficeRequired EducationBachelor''s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experienceRequired Related Work Experience and Number of YearsData network experience - 5PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSCisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP )Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)Preferred EducationCisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP )Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)WORKING CONDITIONSOffice EnvironmentMay work in Network Lab environment24X7 Network Operations environment.
