About the JobAs part of the multidisciplinary team, this position is responsible for the care of surgical patients during the intraoperative phase with a focus on GI Lab procedures. A successful team member in this position is a team player, flexible with changes, clear communicator, understands and assists with the roles of their peers, and is able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Shift: Monday - Friday 6:45a-3:15p + regular & holiday call, averaging 4 days/monthHighlighted ResponsibilitiesManagement of patients from newborn to 18 years old intraoperatively alongside surgical & anesthesia teams in the Operating Room and GI LabEnsuring the safety and advocacy of patients while under general anesthesia and non-sedation proceduresAssisting the anesthesia team in placement of monitors & actively present during the induction & emergence stages of anesthesiaInsertion of PIVs, typically under general anesthesia, but occasionally while awake in the older populationPerforming surgical counts, distributing medications to the back tables, surgical prepping of patients & monitoring team to ensure sterility as neededAvailable during the case to obtain any needed equipment, medications, or supplies for the case for either surgical or anesthesia teamsDocumentation in the EPIC EMR systemGI as primary service with additional coverage for ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Plastics, General Surgery, Urology, Dental, Spine, Interventional Radiology, MRI RadiologyWeekday, weekend & holiday call is required averaging 4 days/monthAverage day utilizes 8 OR/procedure rooms & cares for 30-40 patientsQualificationsExperience: minimum 2 years'' RN Operating Room experience required for BSN nurses; minimum 5 years'' OR RN experience for ADN nurses.Education: BSN preferred. Minimum education required: Associate''s degree in Nursing (ADN).License: TX RN LicenseCertification: BLS required & Preferred: Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR)About UsWe are expanding care for kids in North Texas!
