Description Description Job summaryCome join the Follow team! Our goal is to make Amazon a destination for customers to keep up to date on all the authors, brands, influencers, etc. they care about. We are creating highly tailored experiences based off who a customer follows. These include notifications, a timeline of updates, and suggestions for other people to follow. We are strategically growing the Follow customer base over the next 2 years by surfacing the follow button at different points in a customer''s shopping journey, providing value for every follow action a customer makes, and leveraging other Amazon teams to onboard new entities to follow. We are looking for a smart full stack developer that will work on designing highly scalable systems, executing the planning, and addressing operational improvements. The candidate needs to have a strong system delivery background, a well-rounded technical background, and demonstrated experience working on large scale projects. The candidate must be customer obsessed, like rapid experimentation, have strong problem solving and communication skills, enjoy working with native AWS services, and thrive on solving open-ended business problems. The candidate should be comfortable working in an agile environment and collaborating with multiple teams ranging from product and design to development teams. As part of the Follow team, you will: • Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable and extensible platforms and solutions using native AWS services. • Focus on event-driven architecture, micro-services, infrastructure, and test automation. • Provide inputs into product vision, technical design and implementation, and operational excellence. • Work closely with client teams to define requirements and identify opportunities to improve integration with client teams'' software. • Influence long term technical vision and roadmaps.Basic Qualifications 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.2+ years of non-internship professional software development experienceProgramming experience with at least one software programming language.Bachelor''s Degree in Computer Science or equivalentComputer Science fundamentals in data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysisPreferred Qualifications MS in Computer Science or equivalent5+ years of industry experience building distributed systems and algorithms for commercial online servicesDomain knowledge in data analytics, machine learning and large scale applications using objected oriented languages like Java.Leadership abilities to drive results through self and other passionate developers in agile environment following best practices and mentoring other developers.Strong desire to improve our customers shopping experienceKnowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operationsAbility to take a project from scoping requirements, development, experimentation, launch and measurementSolid verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audienceAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
