Location DescriptionMichael Foods, Inc. located in Lenox, Iowa and often called the ''Pearl of the Prairie'' is where you can find small town living, focused on family and friends, with big city amenities not far from reach in Des Moines, Omaha, and Kansas City. Located in southwest Iowa, Taylor county, with a population of around 1400, the Lenox area reaches far beyond the city limits with beautiful and productive fields of corn, beans, and other croplands. Lenox holds an amazing four day Rodeo every July and is home to a beautiful 36-9 hole golf course, several fishing and boating lakes, great area hunting, a beautiful city park with swimming pool, and many picnic parks. The MFI location in Lenox produces primarily pre-cooked egg patties. ResponsibilitiesSUMMARY: Assists in training of all processing and production personnel in assigned department. Assists supervisor in administrative duties such as attendance, disciplinary action and training. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.We have the honor and responsibility of working in food - a critical infrastructure industry during this time of global crisis. We are working around the clock to keep inventory flowing to our retailers and to help feed the world. We are hiring at many of our manufacturing facilities. This is a great opportunity for those who are now available due to hours being cut at their regular job or being sent home from college temporarily.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Helps in providing for a safe work environment for all personnel. Also helps ensure that all production complies with food safety standards as established by Michael Foods, Inc.Works with supervisor to help maintain sanitation standards of facility.Assigns work tasks to department personnel.Assists with safety auditsHelps maintain control records related to processing, including but not limited to production records, safety inspections.Maintains effective working relationship between members of department and other areas.Continually monitors lines for quality product and notifies all appropriate personnel if discrepancy is found.To follow all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements and safety proceduresTo follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) ''washing hands, etc.'' throughout the day.To follow all HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) guidelines.To follow SOP (Sanitation Operating Procedures), SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures) and keep records updatedTo follow USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) regulations and guidelinesMonitors processing equipment on a continual basis to maintain proper production standards.Reports and fills out work orders on maintenance issues as they relate to productivity, food safety, quality and human safety to maintenance.Encourages suggestions from employees which will improve productivity, quality or control cost of production.Maintains accurate downtime records and Daily shift report of all equipment in assigned pletes daily paperwork, SAP (System Applications Product in Data Processing),PEB, Brill of Lading as needed.Assures that all paper work is being done properly.Adheres to safe work practices, follows GMP''s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.Performs other duties as assigned. QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED:EDUCATION:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10''s and 100''s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.REASONING ABILITY:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:Licenses, certificates, and registrations required: None requiredOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Specific skills and abilities required that are not included in other sections:Ability to follow oral and written instructions.Must have good communication skills.Self-motivated and a willingness to learn.Must have basic math skills.Must be able to train new employees.Must be able to work overtime and weekends (once a month). Also, willing to work an alternate shift.Must have basic computer skills (excel, word, etc)Ability to analyze problems and find solutions.Ability to obtain forklift operator license.Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR training
