JOB SUMMARYJob SummaryPlans and administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervises the work of Assistants, Athletic Trainers, AidesREQUIREMENTSQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must obtain CPR certification.Education and/or ExperienceGraduate of an approved APTA school of physical therapy.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and to hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use finger dexterity, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.PRIMARY JOB DUTIESEvaluate and manage dysfunction to enhance physical and functional abilities.Perform examinations that include interpreting physician referral, taking a patient history, conducting a systems review, and performing tests and measures to identify potential and existing problems as well as determining appropriateness for rehabilitative intervention.Based on clinical judgment, treatment diagnoses, and prognoses, establish both individualized short- and long-term goals for an episode of care that meet the requirements of the referral and the needs of the patient.Utilize interventions that are supported by evidence-based practice to be effective for achieving patient goals as established in the initial evaluationModify interventions as necessary in an effort to promote efficient and effective treatment in order to achieve anticipated goals and expected outcomes.Effectively manage a patient''s episode of care via appropriate utilization and clinical supervision of ancillary staff, effective communication with the referring provider, and providing efficient and effective interventions.Attend required meetings and participates in committees as requested; participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.Performs other duties as assigned.By submitting this application, I attest that I meet the qualifications and am able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
