TITLE:PelvicPhysical Therapist DEPARTMENT: Rehabilitation Services FLSA: Exempt JOB SUMMARY: Our Pelvic Health Rehabilitation Program at Pullman Regional Hospital continues to grow and we are looking to add a full time Pelvic Health PT. We work with patients of all ages and genders from around the greater Pullman, WA region. Our comprehensive Pelvic Rehabilitation program provides care for people who are experiencing pelvic related issues including pelvic pain, bowel dysfunction, bladder dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, pregnancy/post-partum and more. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Training: Bachelors degree, Masters degree, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy, including successful completion or required affiliations. Experience: None required. License/Registration: Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of Washington. Population Served: Pediatric, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Age, and Elderly. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Planning and Prioritizing 1. Plans and prepares written treatment programs based on evaluations of available patient data. Information Gathering 2. Reviews and evaluates physician referral, if indicated, and patients medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required. 3. Performs patient tests, measurements, and evaluations and records and evaluates findings to aid in establishing or revising specifics of treatment programs. Decision-Making 4. Develops appropriate treatment program based on clinical signs and symptoms, patient needs, and physician evaluation. Communication 5. Actively participates in staff meetings and/or patient conferences as needed or requested. Technical Proficiency 6. Administers treatment involving application of physical agents; evaluates effects of treatments and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit. 7. Records patient treatment, response, and progress. Teamwork 8. Actively participates in department and Pullman Regional Hospital marketing and promotional activities. 9. Confers with members of the health care team to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment programs and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of patient health care. Quality 10. Identifies areas to be considered for improvement in the quality of service and participates in the quality improvement effort. Outcomes 11. Evaluates effectiveness of patient treatment and adjusts treatment to achieve maximum benefits. Personal Education 12. Evaluates and coordinates the educational needs for the department staff promotes professional growth. 13. Maintains education requirements for the State of Washington license. Work Effectiveness 14. Orients, instructs, and directs work activities of Physical Therapy Assistants, Physical Therapy Aides, Physical Therapy Students and Volunteers. Reliability 15. Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner. 16. Demonstrates flexibility in assuming new work responsibilities. Education of Others 17. Instructs patients and support system in physical therapy procedures as appropriate. 18. Plans and conducts lectures and training programs on physical therapy and related topics for health care team, students, and community. 19. Conducts inservice to staff following completion of continuing education course. Creating a Safe Work Environment 20. Identifies safety concerns and actively seeks to resolve these issues. Stewardship 21. Assumes the willingness to be accountable for the well-being of the larger organization by operating in service, rather than in control, of those around us. Ethical Conduct 22. Consistently communicates and collaborates with colleagues about decisions which involve legal and ethical issues. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Serves as Clinical Instructor to train and evaluate clinical students, as indicated by level of experience. 2. Plans and develops physical therapy research programs and participates in conducting research. 3. Writes technical articles and reports for publications. 4. Teaches physical therapy techniques and procedures in educational institutions. 5. Schedules evaluations, treatments, and conferences with patients and other team members. 6. Designs, makes, and fits adaptive devices, such as splints and braces, following medical referral. 7. Performs other non-essential functions as requested. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sitting: 10%. Standing/Walking: 90%. Frequent lifting/carrying of 10-50 pounds of free weight, work simulation boxes, and hot packs. Frequent pushing/pulling of modalities on carts and plinths. Occasional climbing to demonstrate the Stairmaster for patients. Constant stooping to adjust weight machines and administer modalities. Occasional kneeling/crouching to administer treatment at the exercise mat and to adjust isokinetic machine. Constant reaching/handling/fingering/feeling for all activities of patient care and documentation. Constant talking/hearing/seeing for all aspects of patient care and administrative duties. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Location: Inside. Occasional exposure to wet or humid during administration of hydrotherapy treatment. Constant proximity to moving or mechanical parts of the exercise machines. Occasional exposure to toxic and caustic chemicals during cleaning of the whirlpools. Occasional exposure to biohazardous wastes during wound debridement and wound dressing. Occasional exposure to odors of body fluids during treatment.
