When hospitals cannot provide the advanced care, expertise and new treatment options their patients require, they turn to us.The Float Pool at Hartford Hospital, also known as the STAR Team (specially trained and responsive), is comprised of experienced, highly skilled Nursing professionals. Registered Nurses on the STAR Team have a variety of skills, allowing them to transition from one specialty to another with confidence and ease. Our team is broken down into two groups, Med/Surg and Critical Care. The Med/Surg team floats between approximately 18 units (including the Step Down units) while our Critical Care RNs primarily float between the six ICUs at Hartford Hospital (MICU, SICU, Cardiac ICU, Neuro ICU and Cardiothoracic ICU) and our step down units. Our RNs rely on extensive nursing skills, strong communication and collaboration skills to assimilate seamlessly into different units and provide the highest levels of personalized, compassionate care to our patients. Our STAR team is comprised of hard working flexible nurses that value balancing their time at home with their time at work. There is no day night rotation. They work every third weekend and they have a very limited holiday requirement. Qualifications Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Minimum one year recent acute care RN experience required. Active CT RN license required prior to start date. BLS certification required prior to date of hire.We take great care of careers.
