From rehab and moderate-rehab to value-add, lease-up, construction take-out, pre-stabilized and stabilized, Freddie Mac Multifamily offers financing that spans the commercial real estate life cycle and the spectrum of multifamily property types including Class-A mixed-use multi-tenant high-rises in our nation''s downtown urban cores, suburban garden-style conventional and affordable assets, dedicated student housing properties and manufactured housing communities (MHCs). Reporting to the Underwriting Senior Director, the hired candidate will use their knowledge of the underwriting process to enhance internal efficiencies and improve the customer experience for both our Lenders and borrowers. The four primary areas of focus are mitigating credit risk through training and enhanced communications, improvements in execution including technology-related enhancements, support of unique specialty products, and support of division-wide initiatives and projects. The Manager position covers a wide range of roles and responsibilities and must be able to work independently and optimally to achieve results, as well as with others from within the team and throughout the broader organization. Our Impact: Our team is responsible for improving the internal and external processes to enhance the underwriting experience for both our customers and internal staff Driving efficiency, productivity, and consistency, with a focus on using technology to achieve this goal We are innovators in the industry by thinking outside of the box to develop solutions to problems and to explore opportunities to expand and elevate our presence in the multifamily market Your Impact: Working with a variety of teams across the Multifamily platform (Operations, Technology, Credit Policy, Legal, etc.) to complete projects and represent the Underwriting point of view Collaborating and communicating with internal business partners as well as external customers. Communication involves obtaining or providing information on matters of importance to the function of the department and/or which may be of a sensitive nature to the company Applying Underwriting knowledge, company policies and principles, and critical thinking to complete assigned tasks accurately, completely, independently and in a timely manner Providing general support for key division-wide priorities and initiatives, as well as research and development of new multifamily offerings, as well as oversight of existing specialty products (i.e. MHC Co-ops) Working efficiently in Microsoft Excel and Word, SharePoint, proprietary data systems and online data sources Effective project management over a variety of ad hoc projects with differing levels of complexity, time-sensitivity, and level of impact to the broader Underwriting team Ability to provide underwriting support to all potential business areas (Conventional, TAH, SBL) in the event there is a critical need Mentoring and training of new team members Qualifications: 8+ years of Multifamily underwriting experience Bachelor''s Degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field Knowledge of real estate property fundamentals and real estate lending/underwriting (especially for GSE) Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word Position may require some limited travel depending on the nature of projects.
