ResponsibilitiesJob Summary: The Nurse Manager has 24 hour a day 7 days a week responsibility for all program activities and treatment services provided on assigned units. The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring effective and efficient programming, staffing ratios, supervision of patients and staff, budgeting and compliance with hospital and regulatory agency standards. The Nurse Manager also is responsible to ensure that all nursing services adhere to the American Nursing Association of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health.The ideal candiate in this postion will consider themself an exspert in working wiht DUAL patinets. Have strong focus on detox protcols, staffing ratios, Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards QualificationsJob Specifications: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. The Nurse Manager must demonstrate flexibility and the knowledge and skills required to manage the units providing care to a varied population including children, adolescents, adults, older adults and dually diagnosed patients. Education: Current Licensure by the Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners as a Registered Nurse Experience: Three years clinical experience with a psychiatric mental health population. Previous clinical supervisory role in a psychiatric setting preferred. Licensure/certification:Active license in Pennsylvania as a Registered Nurse Competencies:Ability to consistently meet and manage patient expectations. ''Doing the right thing, at the right time, for the right person and have the best outcome'' (Service Excellence) Ability to provide timely and appropriate care specific to patient needs (Provision of Care) Ability to provide care appropriate to patient''s developmental level and needs (Age Specific). Ability to influence and enlist the aid of others in the accomplishment of common tasks and goals (Leadership). Supervision Received:Chief Nursing Officer Supervision Exercised: Program staff to include RNs, LPNs, MHTs, Unit secretary Line of Promotion:From this position: Chief Nursing Officer, Assistant Director of Nursing To this position: Charge Nurse, Nursing Supervisor Physical Requirements: Physical agility to manage patients. Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment drug screen. Environmental Conditions: Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids, and other hazardous waste. General hospital environment.
